Heading into the June 7 match, the St. Louis Shock were unbeaten in eight straight games (six at MLP Columbus and two at MLP Daytona). The unbeaten streak put them atop the team standings and set the stage for a strong MLP 2025 bid.

However, the St. Louis Shock's dominance quickly disappeared after losing to Quang Duong's team, the LA Mad Drops, in a match that had to be decided by the Dreambreaker match.
In MLP, Dreambreaker is a tie-breaking format used when a match is tied 2-2 after the first 4 games. In Dreambreaker, players from each team play solo, alternating every 4 points until one team reaches 21 points and wins by 2 points.
LA Mad Drops started the match with an 11-5 win in women's doubles but then Quang Duong and JW Johnson lost 4-11 in men's doubles.
In the first mixed match, LA Mad Drops surprisingly lost 2-11, but in the next mixed match, Quang Duong and Prenteau defeated their opponents 11-3 to advance to the Dreambreaker match.
In the deciding match, the LA Mad Drops players combined and won 21-12, ending the St. Louis Shock's eight-match winning streak.
With this win, the LA Mad Drops became the only team still undefeated at MLP Daytona Beach. They had previously defeated Carolina, NY, and Chicago in regular time, then swept the Ranchers in a Dreambreaker.

This achievement helps LA Mad Drops climb from 8th place to 5th place on the rankings and is considered a championship candidate when no player is injured or banned from competing.
Quang Duong and his teammates are expected to continue to win more in the coming weeks at MLP San Clemente, where they are the home team.
