Quang Nam province spends 158 billion VND to provide free tuition for students from preschool to high school.

This content was approved by the Quang Nam Provincial People's Council at the closing session of its 26th meeting, held on the afternoon of September 26th.

Accordingly, the target group includes preschool children, students in public and private primary and secondary schools, and trainees at continuing education centers following the general education program.

The tuition fee waiver policy does not apply to preschool children, primary and secondary school students attending educational institutions with foreign investment.

Specifically, Quang Nam province provides 100% tuition fee support for public preschool and primary/secondary education institutions.

For private educational institutions, Quang Nam will provide support at the same level as for public educational institutions as stipulated in regulations (for example, currently, Resolution 17 stipulates that preschool students in urban areas pay 105,000 VND/month, and in rural areas 45,000 VND/month; the State will subsidize this amount, with the remaining portion paid by parents according to an agreement with the private school).

Quang Nam currently has 725 public schools, 722 independent private preschools, and 72 non-public schools.

According to the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, the budget to support tuition fee exemptions and reductions for public and private schools in the two academic years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 is over 158 billion VND.

Previously, Quang Ninh also approved a 100% tuition fee waiver for 240,000 preschool children and public school students; Da Nang also planned to allocate 108 billion VND to support 100% tuition fees for students in both public and private schools (excluding schools with foreign investment); Hai Phong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces announced full tuition fee support for public school students at all levels; Long An reduced tuition fees by 50% for preschool children under 5 years old in public schools and provided 100% tuition fee support for secondary school students.
