(Baoquangngai.vn) - Continuing the program of the 20th Session of the 13th Provincial People's Council, on the afternoon of December 6, the Provincial People's Council delegates focused on discussing the socio -economic situation in 2023 and tasks in 2024.

In 2024, Quang Ngai sets out 25 main targets for socio-economic development. Some important targets include: Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate of 2.5 - 3.0%; GRDP per capita of about 4,460 USD; investment capital implemented in the area of about 38 - 39 trillion VND; striving to exceed the central budget target by 5%; the poverty rate in the whole province decreases from 1.58 to 1.6%...
Speaking at the discussion session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van asked delegates to focus on evaluating the results achieved in implementing the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2023; analyzing difficulties, limitations and shortcomings and clearly stating the causes. At the same time, propose specific solutions in each field to complete the 2024 plan.
Discussing at the meeting, delegates agreed with the report assessing the results of socio-economic development in 2023; directions and tasks for 2024 presented at the meeting.
Delegates highly appreciated the direction and management of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee in implementing the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2023. However, to achieve the goals set in 2024, delegates said that it is necessary to have the participation of all levels, sectors and localities, and prepare good resources to promptly implement the socio-economic targets approved by the Provincial People's Council.

According to Director of the State Bank - Quang Ngai Branch Dinh Van Cong, credit growth contributes greatly to the economic growth of the province. In fact, in the past year, credit growth in Quang Ngai was low, only 3.47%. This has negatively affected economic growth, so to promote economic growth, many solutions are needed to promote credit growth, creating strong capital flow in the market. Currently, capital sources at banks in the province are very abundant.

Regarding the tourism sector, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Tien Dung said that in the period of 2020 - 2023, the province's tourism development still has many targets that have not been achieved. This will certainly affect the implementation of the targets set by the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress. If Quang Ngai is not determined to set drastic solutions in 2024, it will be difficult to achieve the set goals and targets.
To complete the tourism development targets in the remaining 2 years of the term, the industry has set specific tasks for each target, including working with the Departments and Bureaus under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to host sports and cultural events in the province. In particular, in 2024, the province registered with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Hoang Sa Soldier Commemoration Ceremony on a national scale, and at the same time, linked this event with the series of activities of the Quang Ngai Provincial Culture and Tourism Week in 2024.

Acting Director of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Duc Trung said that the foundation for building a land use plan is the district-level land use plan. This is a very important condition for implementing the land use plan, promoting socio-economic development in localities in particular and the province in general. Therefore, from now until the end of the first quarter of 2024, localities must complete the district-level land use plan. Once the district-level land use plan is available, the land use plan will be implemented, promoting socio-economic development.
The delegates also suggested that the province needs to synchronously and effectively implement solutions to restructure the agricultural sector in a sustainable and effective direction; issue many policies and mechanisms to support agricultural and rural development, and pay more attention to farmers' lives...

At the discussion session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh also provided further information on the province's industrial development ratio. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Quang Ngai has two major advantages in developing heavy industry: Dung Quat Oil Refinery and Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Plant. The products of these two plants account for 75% of the industrial output value.
Quang Ngai Province highly appreciates the contribution of these two enterprises to the province's industrial development. Thanks to these two "leading" enterprises, Quang Ngai has become the most successful locality in the Central region in terms of industrial development and is one of the five most successful coastal economic zones in the country. In addition to the two main products of oil and steel, Quang Ngai Province is also making efforts to attract other industries with high added value, high intellectual content and high absolute value to increase the rate of industrial production value of the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council emphasized that the target set by Quang Ngai province in 2024 is to achieve a growth rate of 2.5-3%, therefore, the Provincial People's Committee needs to have a specific plan and scenario for this growth plan. In particular, after announcing the Provincial Planning, there is still a lot of work to do to make the planning a reality. Therefore, departments, branches and localities need to focus on realizing the contents of the Provincial Planning.
