According to the report of the People's Committee of Dak Plo commune, on July 18, a household in Dong Loc village discovered that a herd of cows had signs of fever, stopped eating, drooled, and had mouth and toenail ulcers. Immediately after receiving the report, the commune authorities coordinated with the Dak Pek Commune Agricultural Service Center to inspect and take samples for testing.
Initial results showed that 33 cows were infected, out of a total of 62 in Dong Loc village, Dak Plo commune. Those that did not show symptoms but were at high risk were also monitored and isolated. The locality promptly isolated the outbreak, instructed farmers to isolate sick animals, disinfect the barn environment, and prohibit the trading and movement of sick animals out of the area.
Foot and mouth disease, if not controlled promptly, can cause great damage to livestock farmers due to its high rate of spread.
