On April 10, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan signed an official dispatch to relevant agencies requesting them to strengthen inspection and strictly handle individuals trading in food of unknown origin, especially in school areas to protect students.
The candy collected from the vendor in front of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School was used by many students, including 30 students who showed signs of vomiting.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province requested the Departments of Education and Training, Health, Information and Communications, Market Management Department, People's Committees of districts, towns, cities... according to their functions and tasks to urgently guide, propagate, and direct educational institutions in the province to strengthen measures to ensure food hygiene and safety in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Food Safety.
At the same time, strengthen the work of inter-sectoral inspection and examination, mobilize the participation of parents' representatives of schools to participate in monitoring student health care, food safety, and school hygiene at educational institutions. Detect and promptly handle violations of food trading near school gates but of unknown origin.
As reported, in recent times, at a number of schools in Quang Ngai province, there have been cases of students being poisoned en masse and having to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Most of them were students who bought cakes and candies sold in front of the school gates. The most recent case was 30 students from Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School, Nghia Hanh District.
