Quang Ngai: Digitizing the list of more than 10,000 martyrs

On May 21, the Steering Committee for the search and collection of martyrs' remains (Steering Committee 515) of Quang Ngai province held a conference to summarize the implementation of the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the period 2021 - 2025.

According to the 515 Steering Committee, in the cause of national liberation, 37,085 martyrs sacrificed their lives in Quang Ngai province. Of which, the Steering Committee has searched for and gathered 34,336 martyrs; 949 martyrs were Quang Ngai children who sacrificed their lives in other provinces and performed international missions in Laos and Cambodia; the number of martyrs who have not been found is 2,749.

Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the conference.

Regarding the remains of martyrs whose identities have not been determined, in recent years, the Military Region 5 Command and the Provincial Military Command have coordinated with the Department of Meritorious People to excavate the graves of martyrs at 19 martyr cemeteries in the province, obtaining more than 3,200 biological samples of martyrs' remains for DNA testing.

In addition, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee 515 has analyzed, completed, and digitized the list of 10,080 martyrs under its management; and organized the transfer to the Military Command of 13 districts, towns, and cities of 49,008 martyrs with their original burial places.

Lighting candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs

Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, praised the results achieved by Steering Committee 515 in searching, gathering and identifying martyrs. In the remaining time of 2025 and 2026, the province aims to gather over 60% of martyrs' graves compared to the information provided and verification results.

The Provincial People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with achievements in searching and gathering.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 collectives and 9 individuals with outstanding achievements in the task of searching for, collecting martyrs' remains and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the period 2021-2025.
