Earlier, at around 1 PM on the same day, authorities discovered a small fire in Tan Dinh village, Ninh Chau commune. At the same time, two other fires re-ignited in the same area where the fire occurred on May 25th.
At approximately 2:15 PM, the fire intensified. Immediately upon detection, task forces from the commune's Military Command, the police, the Quang Ninh Forest Management Unit, and other relevant forces, totaling about 100 people, participated in firefighting efforts. Thanks to prior preparation, the fire was largely brought under control by around 4 PM the same day.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Long, Head of the Economic Department of Ninh Chau commune, the prolonged hot weather, strong southwest winds, and dense vegetation have made firefighting efforts very difficult.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Long, although the fire has been largely brought under control, there are still many smoldering embers at the scene. Local authorities are currently divided into several teams on standby to monitor and prevent the risk of the fire reigniting. The local government is also coordinating efforts to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
This is the second consecutive forest fire in Quang Tri province. Previously, at around 8:00 AM on May 25th, a forest fire also occurred in the acacia forest area between Quang Ninh and Ninh Chau communes.
Upon receiving the report, the Quang Ninh Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Fire and Rescue Police, the Public Security, the Military, local authorities, militia, and local people to extinguish the fire.
Approximately 300 people were mobilized, simultaneously implementing various measures such as using water hoses, clearing vegetation, and creating firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading.
