In the second quarter of 2024, Vietnam's rice export prices are forecast to remain high.

According to the latest data from the General Department of Customs, from the beginning of the year to April 15, 2024, Vietnam exported 2.69 million tons of rice, worth more than 1.74 billion USD, up 13.6% in volume and 39% in value over the same period in 2023.

Commenting on the rice market in the second quarter of 2024, the Vietnam Food Association assessed that the world rice price and Vietnam's rice export price will remain high. The reason is that the world rice supply is still shrinking due to unfavorable weather conditions, many major supplying countries are forced to ban and limit exports. Meanwhile, the world's largest rice exporting country, India, has not lifted the ban on white rice exports since the middle of last year. Thailand will also cut rice exports to ensure domestic food security...
