Closed process of Dak Nong Bauxite Ore Factory

Nhan Co Alumina Factory (formerly Dak Nong province, now Lam Dong province) operates a closed process of producing alumina from bauxite ore.

Bauxite ore is mined, dissolved with hot caustic solution at high pressure. The mixture is then filtered to remove the residue (red mud), obtaining sodium aluminate solution. This solution is further decomposed to crystallize aluminum hydroxide, then heated at high temperature to create alumina. The red mud is treated and stored in a reservoir, not discharged into the environment.
