BHG - On the afternoon of June 27, Comrade Nguyen Manh Dung, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, had a working session with the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to inspect activities at Thanh Thuy International Border Gate Economic Zone and projects being implemented there. Accompanying him were Comrade Ha Thi Minh Hanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the following departments: Finance, Planning and Investment, Transport, Construction, Natural Resources and Environment, Industry and Trade, Provincial Police, Provincial Border Guard, Provincial Party Committee Office, and Vi Xuyen District.

According to the report of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, in the first 6 months of the year, customs clearance for goods and passengers was restored, trade and services were quite active; more than 20,000 people and more than 12,000 vehicles entered and exited through Thanh Thuy International Border Gate. Imported goods include electric energy, hydroelectric equipment, agricultural machinery, flowers and vegetables; exported goods include metal antimony, cassava starch, peeled boards, dried peanuts, some fresh fruits ... The total import and export turnover of goods in the first 6 months of 2023 reached more than 142 million USD, an increase of 273% over the same period last year; tax collection was 94.4 billion VND, reaching 105.64% of the target assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.

Currently, Thanh Thuy International Border Gate Economic Zone is implementing the following projects: Repairing and ensuring traffic on the subdivision road in Thanh Thuy International Border Gate area, the unit has accepted and handed over the project for use; Thanh Thuy International Border Gate Inter-sectoral Control Station, has completed the main items, expected to be completed and put into use before December 31, 2023; Road connecting National Highway 2 to Na La Border Trade Area, Thanh Thuy International Border Gate Center, currently constructing locations with available land, and implementing the plan to prepare cadastral measurement files, correct cadastral maps, submit to competent authorities for approval, serving the work of preparing land recovery files to carry out site clearance work to implement the project.

Based on the understanding of the actual situation, listening to the presentations of the functional sectors, concluding the working session, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to be proactive, innovative, creative, and determined in performing its tasks. It is necessary to clearly understand the responsibility to grasp and implement the work. In the development of the Border Gate Economic Zone, there must be a plan for urban development; developing the workforce, linked with production, logistics chains, and social security to contribute to economic growth, ensuring national defense and security.
Acting Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Manh Dung emphasized that currently, the activities of border economic zones have changed compared to many years ago. Therefore, the development direction of Thanh Thuy economic zone also needs to have a change in awareness and development perspective, it is necessary to have a plan for urban and socio-economic development, a management mechanism, labor force, and an environmental protection plan. Border economic zones are not simply places for trading and importing and exporting goods, but must have production projects associated with job creation and social security for workers.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to advise the province to develop its own preferential policies to attract investment and attract import-export enterprises. Coordinate with relevant agencies to submit to the Prime Minister to adjust the general planning of Thanh Thuy Border Gate Economic Zone. Pay attention to making detailed planning, planning of functional sub-zones; at the same time, the planning must be public. Strengthen coordination with localities to effectively implement land management, not allowing illegal construction. Accelerate the progress of non-budget investment projects. Any project with ineffective investment, any project that has not been implemented must have a specific solution. Create favorable conditions for enterprises to invest in trade and production activities. Further improve administrative reform, especially administrative procedures, promote digital transformation, improve the quality of public services, and create conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in trade, import-export, and immigration activities.
