Removing "bottlenecks" in connectivity creates momentum for breakthroughs.
Mr. Quach Van An, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasized: "To address this issue, we are actively advising the Provincial People's Committee to implement decisive solutions: Shifting from directly supporting research projects to supporting businesses through tax policies and preferential loans to modernize production lines. Building a network of experts, closely connecting with major research institutes and universities in Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City to bring intellectuals to solve practical problems of businesses in Ca Mau. Promoting the spirit of creative entrepreneurship, creating a co-working space, and training courses on innovative thinking to form a knowledgeable and capable entrepreneurial community. With high political determination and the support of the business community, we believe that these 'bottlenecks' will soon be removed, making Ca Mau a shining example of science and technology application in the Mekong Delta."
Innovative startups linked to the application of science and technology are a key focus for 2026.
In the context of rapidly developing technology, the Department of Science and Technology has identified three key areas for breakthroughs in the coming period. “Firstly, breakthroughs in biotechnology and the circular economy in the shrimp industry. Secondly, breakthroughs in the digital economy and data-driven smart governance. Ca Mau has a fragmented topography and is far from major economic centers, so digitalization is the shortest path to removing geographical barriers. Thirdly, breakthroughs in sustainable adaptation technology and green energy; research and transfer of soft embankment solutions, erosion control combined with land reclamation; and plant and animal varieties adapted to brackish and saltwater environments. At the same time, we will support technology to help Ca Mau become a national center for renewable energy (offshore wind and solar power),” Mr. Quach Van An added.
“ The province prioritizes four key areas in digital transformation: agriculture and environment; education and training; healthcare; and tourism, aiming to create a widespread ecosystem that will serve as a foundation for replication in other fields. Attention will be paid to strengthening the activities of the startup and innovation center to promote innovation in businesses and boost entrepreneurship among young people. We will continue to cooperate with universities and technology corporations to enhance consultation and invite experts to participate in planning and implementing digital transformation programs, especially in strong sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, marine economy, logistics, and tourism..." Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed .
A breakthrough doesn't mean doing something too far-fetched, but rather using modern technology to solve pressing local problems. Ca Mau believes that, with its three strategic pillars, science and technology will truly become a powerful lever to drive the province's economic development in the digital age.
