At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, MG officially introduced a new all-electric concept car called the all-new MG Cyber X. This is the second model in MG's Cyber product line, following the Cyberster launched in November 2023.

The MG Cyber X electric SUV stands out with its square body design and matte black paint. The special highlight of this SUV is the pair of hidden (pop-up) headlights, which can be turned on when in use and folded when not in use. This detail has a nostalgic style but is still very impressive.

The design of the MG Cyber X in China was penned by Jozef Kabaň, a veteran Slovakian car designer who has worked for Volkswagen, BMW and Rolls-Royce. He is the one who designed the exterior of the legendary Bugatti Veyron supercar as well as popular models such as the Volkswagen Lupo and Skoda Octavia.

He joined SAIC, MG's parent company, in April 2024 and is currently in charge of design for the brand. Speaking to Autocar magazine, Mr. Kabaň said that the Cyber X was designed in a completely different direction from the Cyberster to show MG's diversity, although this still needs time to be verified.

He also said that the Cyber X's headlights are a tribute to the Ferrari Testarossa supercar - an iconic supercar of the '80s. The A and B pillars of the car are painted matte black, creating a floating roof effect when viewed from the side. Next to it are two-tone silver - black rims with a 5-spoke design.

Not only that, the roof and side windows of the car also remind many people of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series, giving a wild and powerful feeling. Details such as square wheel arches, large tires and high ground clearance further highlight the true SUV style of the MG Cyber X.

Interior images of this car model have not been released yet. It is only known that MG has cooperated with phone company Oppo to develop connectivity technology for the car, promising to bring a high-end digital experience. Currently, MG has not announced the specifications or price of Cyber X.

Rumors have it that the production version will be the first to use the all-new SAIC E3 electric platform, meaning it will be fully electric and could incorporate battery technology into the body to increase rigidity and reduce weight.

According to some sources, MG Cyber X will officially launch in the market next year. After China, the car is expected to be sold in other markets such as Europe and Australia.

MG aims to launch eight new electric models in the next two years, including large SUVs, sedans and sports cars. In 2025, in addition to the Cyber X, MG will launch two more new models, including a large five-seat SUV and a small electric sedan. Previously, in March 2025, MG also introduced an upgraded version of the MG4 - the company's first global electric vehicle.

In the Chinese market alone, MG sold 10,000 vehicles in March 2025, an increase of 82.6% over the same period last year. This is a sign of the strong comeback of this brand under the hands of China.
