According to a VNA correspondent in Thailand, on June 8, the private College of Asian Scholars (CAS) in Khon Kaen province, northeastern Thailand, coordinated with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen to organize the launching ceremony of the "Center for Vietnamese Studies" located on the school campus.
The event was attended by Professor, Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Education of Thailand, and founder of the school; Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen Chu Duc Dung; Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen, Siriwat Phinitphanit; Associate Professor, Dr. Kasom Chanawongse, Principal of the school, along with lecturers and representatives of the Vietnamese Association of Khon Kaen province.
This is the second Vietnamese Studies Center in Thailand after the first one opened at Udon Thani Royal University, reflecting the growing interest of Thai people in Vietnam and the Vietnamese language, and showing the efforts of Vietnamese representative agencies to promote the Vietnamese language at educational institutions in Thailand.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Chu Duc Dung expressed his pleasure to attend and co-organize the opening ceremony of the "Vietnam Studies Center" at CAS. The Consul General assessed that the establishment of the Vietnam Studies Center will open a new phase in the school's development orientation in the context of the very good development of the Thailand - Vietnam relationship, and the increasing need to learn and cooperate between the two countries in many fields from politics - economics, culture - society to tourism - sports... Mr. Chu Duc Dung believes that the establishment of the school's Vietnam Studies Center will contribute to creating human resources for jobs related to Vietnam, meeting the recruitment needs in government agencies, business organizations cooperating between Thailand and Vietnam in teaching, business, translation, tour guides...
To do that, Consul General Chu Duc Dung hopes that in the coming time, the school and the center will strengthen cooperation agreements with a number of Vietnamese universities to exchange students, experts, scholars, and lecturers in activities such as studying, researching, teaching, and working for a limited period of time. The Consul General also mentioned the introduction of Vietnamese into teaching so that it will later become an official subject in the school, granting scholarships to Vietnamese students to study at the school, and establishing a bridge between agencies, research institutes, organizations, individual scientists and businesses of Thailand operating in the field of science and technology with Vietnamese partners...
Consul General Chu Duc Dung also expressed his hope that the newly launched center will have regular exchanges with the Center for Vietnamese Studies of Royal Udon Thani University to agree on the goals of developing Vietnamese language, especially towards Khon Kaen University granting degrees to students graduating from Vietnamese language courses.
CAS University was founded by Professor, Dr. Krasae Chanawongse on February 26, 1999. The school is highly appreciated for its training quality as well as student management, meeting the demand for recruiting high-quality human resources in many industries in Thailand.
