In the early morning of July 10, when Real lost 0-4 to PSG, Rodrygo did not even play a single minute. He was last on the list of Real Madrid attackers to play at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
With only 101 minutes of play, Rodrygo is even behind Brahim Díaz (103 minutes), and significantly lower than Vinícius Júnior (456 minutes), Gonzalo García (450 minutes). Even Kylian Mbappe, who missed the group stage due to injury, was used by coach Alonso for 135 minutes.
Rodrygo seems to have been pushed to the sidelines in Alonso's system. The 24-year-old striker was once considered one of Real Madrid's brightest young talents. However, the 2024/25 season has seen a significant decline in Rodrygo's status.
