Ronaldo scored a penalty in the 118th minute with Al Nassr playing with one less man, levelling the aggregate score at 4-4 in the quarter-finals and sending the match into a penalty shootout. However, he was the only Al Nassr player to score in the penalty shootout, as other European players such as Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles and Otavio all missed. Meanwhile, the UAE representative scored in all three penalty shootouts to cause an earthquake in the AFC Champions League.
