To date, Vietnamese passion fruit has been exported to 20 countries with a turnover of over 222 million USD by 2023. Being allowed to export to Australia - a market with many of the world's strictest standards, Vietnamese passion fruit will have many opportunities to develop in the international market.
According to statistics, Australia's tropical fruit market has an annual growth rate of 8-10%. Meanwhile, Vietnamese passion fruit has a production cost 15-20% lower than its main competitors in South American countries, and Vietnamese passion fruit is also considered to have a rich flavor and high nutritional value.
Responding to Thanh Nien on the sidelines of the event, a representative of Blue Ocean Company (under Ocean Group), a company that is about to participate in exporting to Australia, said that in addition to raw material areas of up to hundreds of hectares for growing mango, longan, avocado, etc., the company has a raw material area of up to 50 hectares in Lam Dong and Dak Lak . Of which, 25 hectares are organized to meet the conditions for exporting to many markets, including Australia and Europe. To be ready to meet the long-term export strategy, Blue Ocean currently has 2 processing factories in Dong Thap and Lam Dong, which can supply tens of thousands of tons of products each year.
Mr. Ly Hoang Duy, an Australian Vietnamese and founder of 4Way Company, which specializes in importing Vietnamese agricultural products to Australia, said that passion fruit promises to have many opportunities to develop in the Australian market. After a period of cooperation to bring Vietnamese mangoes to Australia, 4Way and Blue Ocean signed a memorandum of understanding to bring Vietnamese passion fruit to the Australian market soon. Mr. Duy believes that Vietnamese fruit will become increasingly popular in Australia. In the near future, 4Way plans to bring more types of Vietnamese fruit in dried and processed forms to the Australian market.
Ambassador Goledzinowki also informed that after passion fruit, Vietnamese grapefruit is expected to be approved for export to Australia from next year. He assessed that agricultural cooperation contributes strongly to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Australia, which are both strong in agriculture. The Australian Embassy has two departments researching agricultural cooperation with Vietnam. In the 1 million ha low-emission rice project that Vietnam is implementing, Australia will participate in providing technical support for about 200,000 ha. According to him, the fact that the two countries have upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership has created even more favorable conditions.
