On the afternoon of December 3, Nguyen Hue walking street - one of the busiest streets in Ho Chi Minh City was bustling with people. Among those people were many familiar faces from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien who were hurriedly, urgently and carefully preparing the necessary conditions for the Dien Bien and Northwest Culture - Tourism Week event in Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that, attending the event thousands of kilometers away from the locality, Dien Bien province mobilized the participation of over 150 officials, civil servants, artisans, and actors. That shows the importance and significance of the event to Dien Bien, especially next year Dien Bien will host the National Tourism Year. Introducing cultural colors, Dien Bien chose the most typical cultural features of the three ethnic groups Mong, Thai, Ha Nhi to promote to people and tourists in Ho Chi Minh City. By recreating traditional residential architecture; folk songs and dances; traditional crafts; folk games will help visitors have an overview of the typical culture of Dien Bien...

Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, Director of the Cultural - Radio - Television Center of Tua Chua district shared: “With the characteristics of a mountainous district, the Mong ethnic group accounts for over 72%, Tua Chua district brings to the event the unique cultural features of the Mong ethnic group. Here, right in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, visitors will experience typical cultural activities, such as: pounding rice cakes, spinning flax, weaving flax of the Mong ethnic group... And can experience 2 new professions recognized as intangible cultural heritage: making Mong panpipes and traditional blacksmithing”.

Dien Bien and Northwest Culture and Tourism Week in Ho Chi Minh City took place from December 4 to 7, with many events, such as: Planting Bauhinia trees; conference to promote tourism in the Northwest provinces with Ho Chi Minh City; art programs; street performances; highland cultural space; photo exhibition "From Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 to the Great Spring Victory in 1975"; display of typical agricultural products...

The festival has not yet started, but domestic and foreign tourists have already come to visit and experience many activities in the program. With many beautiful cultural features of Dien Bien ethnic groups that were only seen on TV and newspapers, now vividly recreated right before their eyes, many tourists are interested, wanting to explore and enjoy.

Arriving quite early, Mr. Tran Quang Phuc, Ho Chi Minh City, walked around the traditional houses of the Mong, Thai, Ha Nhi ethnic groups; miniature landscapes, check-in points... of the Dien Bien delegation. Although these points are still in the process of completion, Mr. Phuc can already feel the Northwest cultural space recreated here. Mr. Phuc shared: "Dien Bien is very far from Ho Chi Minh City. However, today, you have traveled thousands of kilometers to bring the most beautiful features of your culture here, which is very precious. Although the activities have not taken place yet, the houses and exhibition points are still being completed, I feel like you have brought Dien Bien to Nguyen Hue walking street...".

In just 24 hours, a Dien Bien sparkling with cultural colors will be recreated in a series of activities at the Dien Bien Culture - Tourism Week in Ho Chi Minh City. This is an important event that lays the foundation for a series of activities for Dien Bien to host the National Tourism Year 2024. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Chuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province said: “With such a bustling atmosphere, we are trying to convey all the traditional cultural features of Dien Bien ethnic groups and introduce the potential and opportunities for developing Dien Bien tourism to the people of Ho Chi Minh City and the people of the southern provinces. Hopefully, the resumption of the Ho Chi Minh City - Dien Bien flight route will attract a large number of tourists from the southern provinces to Dien Bien, creating conditions for Dien Bien tourism to take off and develop further in the coming time…”.
