Vision to 2050, the Port will reach airport level 4E (according to ICAO standard code), with a capacity of about 50 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year.

The Ministry of Construction has just approved the adjustment of the Gia Binh International Airport Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, Gia Binh International Airport has the location and function of an international airport, used for both civil and security and defense purposes.

The planning target for the 2021-2030 period is a 4E airport (according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO) with a capacity of about 30 million passengers/year and 1.6 million tons of cargo/year; operating aircraft types B777, B787, A350, A321 and other special and specialized aircraft.

Gia Binh International Airport has CAT III standard landing approach for runway 07L/25R, CAT II standard for runway 07R/25L.

By 2050, Gia Binh airport will welcome 50 million passengers/year.

By 2050, the Port will reach airport level 4E (according to ICAO standard code), with a capacity of about 50 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year; operate aircraft types B777, B787, A350, A321 and other special and specialized aircraft and have landing approaches according to CAT III standards for runways 07L/25R, 07R/25L and 06/24.

In the period 2021-2030, the Port is planning to have an aircraft parking lot in the passenger terminal and cargo terminal area to accommodate about 81 parking positions. Vision to 2050, the aircraft parking lot around the passenger terminal and cargo terminal area will be expanded to accommodate about 123 parking positions; reserve for expansion when needed.

In addition, the terminal serving private aircraft - VIP terminal is planned in the southwest area of the passenger terminal, south of the private aircraft parking area; the land area is about more than 5 hectares.

The passenger terminal for the 2021-2030 period is planned to the northeast of the VIP terminal with a capacity of about 30 million passengers/year, with a vision to 2050 to be expanded to meet a capacity of about 50 million passengers/year.

The cargo terminal is planned in the area east of the passenger terminal, meeting the capacity of about 1.6 million tons of cargo/year in the period of 2021-2030; with a vision to 2050, it will be expanded to meet the capacity of about 2.5 million tons/year.

Land use demand for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 of Gia Binh International Airport is about 1,960 hectares, of which, land planned for civil aviation works is about 957 hectares; land planned for shared airport works is about 927 hectares; security land managed by the Ministry of Public Security is about 75 hectares.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is assigned the responsibility of studying and receiving the Appraisal Report of the Department of Planning and Finance to complete the Planning dossier; Preside and coordinate with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and relevant agencies to organize the announcement, management and implementation of the planning according to regulations.

The Ministry of Construction also requested the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to be responsible for reviewing and updating the above planning contents into local planning and related planning; organizing the management of airspace and construction elevation according to regulations; researching solutions for electricity supply, water supply, drainage, etc. for the area near the airport.

At the same time, arrange and protect land funds in accordance with the approved planning, have plans for planning and land use to ensure that land funds are ready to meet the needs of expansion according to the planning; proactively coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense to research and arrange land funds for air defense positions to protect airports.

In addition, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province completed the planning and investment in the traffic route connecting the airport with Hanoi capital, the main road to the airport to ensure the exploitation and connection capacity of Gia Binh International Airport.
