Long Thanh Airport will be a breakthrough driving force to promote socio -economic development of Dong Nai province and other localities in the region.
Choose airport as a driving force for development
When approving the planning of Dong Nai province, the Government required Long Thanh airport to be used as a new driving force for breakthrough development, attracting selective investment with focus and key points...
Specifically, take aviation industry, high technology, specialized industry and high-quality services, innovation, deeper participation in regional and global value chains as the main direction. Gradually connect large cities through underground space associated with the development of commercial - service and urban functions. Develop financial services, logistics...
Evaluating the content of Dong Nai province's planning, an urban planning expert in Dong Nai province said that the planning is the basis for Dong Nai to connect traffic, create links with urban areas in the region, and promote socio-economic development because the planning content is built on the basis of developing 6 corridors and 3 belts.
These are the Dong Nai River corridor; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway corridor and National Highway 51; Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Phan Thiet expressway corridor; National Highway 1 corridor and North - South railway; National Highway 20 corridor and Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway; Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway corridor.
The remaining 3 belts include: Ho Chi Minh City belt 4; National Highway 56 belt - Provincial Road 762; Dong Nai - Ba Ria - Vung Tau connecting belt.
According to this expert, in addition to existing expressways, traffic projects that have been approved and will continue to be constructed in the near future show that in the near future, the Long Thanh airport axis will be connected to many major traffic axes, seaports... shortening the distance with Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.

Continue to invest in bridges and roads connecting to Long Thanh airport
In addition to the projects that have been and are being approved, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also approved the proposal of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (preparing to merge with Ho Chi Minh City) on investing in the construction of the Ho Tram urban expressway - Long Thanh airport.
According to the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the expressway connecting Ho Tram urban area - Long Thanh airport has a total length of about 41km with a total estimated investment capital of about 17,000 billion VND.
This is a direct connection route to Long Thanh airport, the fastest and shortest transportation option to develop the Ho Tram area. At the same time, it creates a boost for infrastructure development and strongly promotes connectivity in the Southeast region.
In Dong Nai, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has just reported to the Government, proposing budget support to build Ma Da Bridge, the road connecting Dong Nai province with Binh Phuoc, the Central Highlands with the Southeast region and especially Long Thanh airport with southern seaports.
Specifically, investing in the construction of Ma Da bridge and the connecting road from Ma Da bridge to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, 44km long (investment in the road alone is about 13,300 billion VND).
Because Dong Nai province's budget is spent on many key national projects passing through the area, the province has proposed that the central government support the budget to build more of the above-mentioned connecting routes.
The Government has also assigned the Ministry of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction and relevant agencies to consider the proposal of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee.
Regarding the connecting traffic infrastructure projects, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said: "The province is simultaneously implementing many large projects of inter-regional nature such as Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, so the province has to use a large local budget to pay for compensation and site clearance.
Therefore, we are recommending that the central government consider allocating funds to continue implementing upcoming national key projects such as the North-South Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project."
In addition, Dong Nai also proposed that the central government consider providing financial support for the locality to implement a number of projects around Long Thanh airport with about 8,800 billion VND.
Specifically, investing in the drainage project outside the boundary of Long Thanh airport (phase 1), upgrading and expanding routes 769, 773A and constructing routes 770B, 769E.
In addition, Dong Nai also proposed that the central government provide targeted support to the province of about 3,500 billion VND to implement projects including routes 25B, 25C, 774B and Bien Hoa City beltway, road to Ong Keo Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City beltway 3 extension...
"The Long Thanh airport project is the most anticipated in the region. Therefore, the province is making efforts to implement connection projects so that when the airport is put into operation, the connecting traffic system will also be synchronized.
"When traffic is convenient and travel time is shortened, it will create momentum for economic development around the airport area, Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces," said Mr. Vo Tan Duc.
Discussing the plan to build 3 more bridges connecting to the super city of Ho Chi Minh City
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, Dong Nai borders Ho Chi Minh City, so it is convenient for road traffic. However, the two localities are separated by the Dong Nai, Long Tau, Dong Tranh and Thi Vai rivers.
Through assessment, the bridges that have been and are being put into operation such as Long Thanh bridge (Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway), Phuoc Khanh bridge (Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway), Nhon Trach bridge on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, which is about to open to traffic... have brought efficiency to the people.
Therefore, Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City continue to coordinate to discuss plans to soon build more bridges Cat Lai, Dong Nai 2, Phu My 2. When these bridges are built, it will help people and businesses of the two localities shorten travel time and reduce transportation costs.
