Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025: Exciting before the opening ceremony

On the afternoon of October 2, at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Gymnasium, the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament held an important technical meeting with representatives of the teams participating in the Northern region qualifying round.

The meeting is the final review step of technical, regulation and organizational work, with the participation of representatives of the Organizing Committee, referee team and head coaches of the teams.

Many practical issues have been discussed to ensure the tournament kicks off tomorrow (October 3) in the most professional and fair manner.

Entering its third year, the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, jointly organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre Newspaper , has affirmed its position as the most prestigious and anticipated playground for workers across the country. This year's tournament continues to receive the support of major sponsors such as Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company ( THACO ), Dong Luc Sports Group, and many other prestigious enterprises.

Practical concerns

The atmosphere at the meeting became lively when the teams raised questions. Coach Tran Minh Giang of the Ninh Binh Trade Union team expressed concern about the field being divided into 4 adjacent small fields, which could lead to the ball flying from one field to another, affecting the match.

Responding to this issue, the representative of the referee board, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi (Deputy Head of the Referee Board of Hanoi Football Federation) said: "According to the rules, the match will only stop when a ball from another field directly affects the ball situation taking place on the field. If there is no impact, the match will continue. This is a regulation to ensure the continuity of the match."

Agreeing with concerns about professionalism, Mr. Vu Hong Minh (representative of Ninh Binh Trade Union) also suggested that the organizing committee should have clearer regulations on participants, not just limited to 3 levels: V-League, First Division, National Cup, but need to be more specific to ensure absolute fairness for the grassroots tournament.

Affirm professionalism and spread good image

Representative of the organizing committee, Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien (Deputy Head of Labor Relations Department, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) emphasized that this year's tournament will be broadcast live on VTVcab and FPT Play platforms. This requires the teams to have the most thorough preparation in terms of costumes and competition style to build a neat, professional image, spreading the noble sportsmanship of workers.

Regarding the competition rules, the tournament applies the latest 7-a-side football rules of Vietnamese football.

Overview of the technical meeting

At the end of the meeting, all teams showed great determination and were ready to contribute beautiful and fair matches. The Northern region qualifying round of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025 is ready to start tomorrow, October 3, and end on October 5.

The 16 teams in the Northern qualifying round are divided into four groups, playing a round robin. After the group stage, the eight strongest teams (four first-placed teams and four second-placed teams) will advance to the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-finals, the 4 winning teams will directly advance to the national finals. The losing teams still have a chance with 2 final spots through the play-off round.

The 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Vietnam Football Federation. This is the third consecutive year the tournament has taken place.

The 2025 tournament is sponsored by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Faslink Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company, 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

On the morning of October 3, the opening ceremony of the tournament will take place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
