Previously, on December 25, 2022, Duong To Commune Police (Phu Quoc City) received a report from Ms. T. (35 years old, American nationality), temporarily residing in Long Bien District ( Hanoi City) about the loss of property. Specifically, while checking in for flight VN6526/18D from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. T. put her personal belongings and carry-on luggage in a plastic tray through the security scanner.
After completing the security check, Ms. T. returned to the airport security check location to look for the trays on the table and reported to the airport staff that she had lost a rectangular-faced wristwatch with a light brown background and a silver metal strap worth 11,124 USD (about 278 million VND).
After learning about the incident, Kien Giang Provincial Police and Phu Quoc City Police coordinated with functional units to verify, clarify, and track down the property to return it to the owner.
According to the leader of Phu Quoc International Airport, passengers leaving their luggage and belongings behind happens frequently. At Phu Quoc Airport, there is a designated area for tourists to leave their belongings left behind by others. The matter of passenger T. claiming that his property was stolen must be investigated by the police. If there are signs of law violations, they will be strictly handled according to the law.
