Currently, U Minh district has 8 administrative units at the commune level, including 7 communes and 1 town. According to the plan to merge administrative units and reorganize the administrative apparatus according to the new model, the district will have 4 remaining commune-level administrative units, namely: Khanh An commune, Nguyen Phich commune, U Minh commune, and Khanh Lam commune. This is an important step to improve the efficiency of the state apparatus, streamline organization, reduce overlaps, and optimize local resources for socio -economic development.

At this point, observations from various localities indicate that everything is ready. Plans regarding personnel, facilities, office layout, and document storage have all been meticulously prepared; in particular, officials and civil servants are reassured and ready to immediately begin working under the new model.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh An commune, shared: “After the merger, the administrative headquarters will be located in the current Khanh An commune. To date, the commune has completed the process of compiling and reviewing records and documents, and has submitted a proposal to the district regarding the repair and upgrading of some offices to ensure adequate working conditions for officials from the merged communes. At the same time, the commune is also utilizing functional rooms at the commune's Cultural Center to provide workspaces for part-time officials and other specialized departments to best serve the people when they come to conduct business.”

In addition to perfecting organizational plans, localities are also focusing on doing a good job of ideological work and stabilizing the staff after the merger. This is a key factor contributing to the success of the new government model.
