An Cuu ward militia force evacuates elderly people from flooded areas

Due to prolonged heavy rains, many roads and residential areas in An Cuu ward were severely flooded, disrupting the daily life and directly threatening the lives and property of hundreds of households. Determined not to let people be affected by floods, the An Cuu ward Military Command directed officers and soldiers of the LLDQ to stay close to the area, regardless of day or night, on duty 24/7 to promptly evacuate and support the people.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Phong, a soldier of the LLDQ shared: The water rose quickly, the families in the low-lying areas were very worried, if they did not move in time, or jack up their belongings, it would be very dangerous, so when they saw the militia brothers coming, they felt more secure. In that dangerous time, day or night, we did not allow ourselves to be late, even though we were tired, but wherever help was needed, the militia brothers were there.

Mr. Tran Truong Huy on Truong Chinh Street said: The floodwaters came quickly and the house was in a low-lying area so they couldn't move in time, while the family consisted of a couple and four small children, the parents were all old and weak. Fortunately, the LLDQ brothers and the ward police came to support the family to move to higher ground in time, ensuring safety.

To effectively carry out the task of preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of floods, the Military Command of An Cuu Ward has strictly implemented the spirit of "4 on-site" direction, activating the plan for natural disaster prevention, combat, search and rescue at the highest level. At the same time, maintaining the number of 3 mobile militia platoons and 38 on-site militia leaders of 38 residential groups. Organizing 3 checkpoints at dangerous deep points to warn, guide traffic and prevent people and vehicles from entering dangerous areas.

The Ward Military Command coordinated to receive information from 22 locations in need of emergency evacuation support; mobilized LLDQ officers and soldiers, along with vehicles to support the evacuation of 87 people in low-lying, deeply flooded, isolated areas to high, safe shelters. Typical examples include timely emergency care for Ton That Bao Khang on Dang Van Ngu Street; timely support for Ms. Van Anh's family at 98 Hai Trieu, whose house was deeply flooded, had no electricity, and lost communication, while the family had 3 students staying there...

Mr. Tran Viet Tan, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of An Cuu Ward, informed: The officers and soldiers of the LLDQ seem to not rest, they are on duty day and night, even soaking in the silver water all day to support the people. We always determine that helping the people is our highest responsibility.

Along with that, this force also urgently supplied food, provisions, thousands of meals, and drinking water to vulnerable areas and isolated areas to serve the people.

Ms. Hoang Thi Nhu Thanh, Chairwoman of An Cuu Ward People's Committee, said: During the recent flood, many families in the ward were deeply submerged. The Party Committee, the government, organizations and the Ward Military Command actively supported the people. Among them, many difficult, elderly and sick cases were promptly supported by the LLDQ in coordination with other forces. The ward leaders acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and responsibilities of the Ward Military Command and the Ward Military Command during the recent natural disaster.
