The possibility of De Bruyne joining Chelsea has become clearer.

De Bruyne is being eyed by several big European clubs, but Chelsea is not among them.

De Bruyne will leave Man City at the end of the season.

The Telegraph reveals that despite facing a lack of experience in their young squad, Chelsea seem uninterested in the opportunity to sign Kevin De Bruyne, who will become a free agent after leaving Manchester City this summer.

According to head coach Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's transfer plans will depend heavily on whether they qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

De Bruyne had a stint at Chelsea but wasn't given much playing time before shining brightly at Manchester City. Despite having their eye on experienced stars like Virgil van Dijk, Chelsea showed no concrete action towards De Bruyne, even when they needed an experienced leader in the dressing room.

The main reason stems from balancing the squad. De Bruyne would be in direct competition with Cole Palmer, who is currently Chelsea's brightest star. Furthermore, at 33, the Belgian midfielder is showing signs of stagnation and may not fit into the long-term development plan that Maresca is building.

Furthermore, Chelsea are not keen on players like Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, or Ollie Watkins, partly due to their high cost and partly because of their age or inconsistent form. Instead, the club will prioritize young players with first-team experience such as Dean Huijsen, Jarrad Branthwaite, or Marc Guehi, all of whom are making a strong impression in the Premier League.

Coach Maresca candidly shared: “We are the youngest team in the Premier League and the second youngest in Europe. On our bench, we have three players born in 2006. Those players who struggled this year will gain experience and will play better next season.”

Coach Maresca also emphasized that Chelsea's spending power will be heavily influenced by Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Therefore, if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, the London club will have to be cautious with every penny invested.
