The Ministry of Transport is assessing and approving to have a basis for selecting investors. After selecting investors, it is expected that the construction of the two rest stops will begin in the first quarter of 2024; and be completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. The remaining items will be completed by mid-2025.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport approved two rest stop locations on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway at Km 144+560 (Phong Phu commune, Tuy Phong district) and Km 205+602 (Ham Tri commune, Ham Thuan Bac district).
Mr. Pham Quoc Huy, Executive Director of Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway project, said that the two rest stops (one station in each direction) have an area of 5 hectares/station.
Currently, the two expressways Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet have opened to traffic. The distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh Hao is 250km long, but on the whole route there is only one stop on the expressway Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay (Long Thanh expressway).
For many months now, the Long Thanh Expressway rest stop has been overloaded and cramped, especially with the sudden increase in traffic. The station’s parking lot is always full.
During rush hour, groups of buses and cars stop for passengers and drivers to eat and rest, and the restroom area is also overloaded.
According to TCVN 5729:2012, on expressways there will be regular rest stops at intervals of 50-60km and large rest stops at intervals of 120-200km.
The basic construction items of the rest stop include public service works provided free of charge such as: Parking lot, resting space, temporary rest room for drivers, restroom, information area.
In addition, there are commercial service facilities such as food and beverage service areas, gas and oil stations, electric charging stations, vehicle maintenance and repair workshops, bedrooms for drivers and passengers staying overnight...
