Landslide of 6 houses along Tien River at dawn

The landslide, about 100m long and 20m deep inland, affected 6 houses and threatened 10 other houses along the Tien River in Cao Lanh ward (Dong Thap province).

At around 3am on September 20, Cao Lanh Ward Police ( Dong Thap Province) received a report from residents on Nguyen Huong Street in Tan Tich Hamlet that a landslide had occurred, so they quickly arrived at the scene to ensure security and order and coordinated with other forces to assist in evacuating the property of families in the affected area to a safe place.

The landslide, about 100 meters long and 20 meters deep inland, has caused 6 houses to collapse, 2 of which completely collapsed. 10 other houses are under threat.

Mr. Tran Van Nhi, a resident whose house collapsed into the river, said that at the time of the incident, there was a loud noise. The house collapsed into the water, Mr. Nhi was lucky to swim to shore safely with only minor scratches.

Mr. Vo Truyen Thong, Vice Chairman of Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee, said: The government mobilized local forces to support people in salvaging property, dismantling, and moving houses out of dangerous areas.

According to a report by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, there were 70 landslides in the communes and wards with a length of more than 7km, with an estimated cost of about 505 billion VND.
