The left dike section from K104+630 - K104+645 in Kim Binh commune (Phu Ly city) recently had an upstream landslide incident.

The section with the incident has a 15 m landslide arc; the elevation of the landslide arc is +6.35, the elevation of the toe of the landslide arc is +3.15. The vertical landslide arc is 0.5 - 1 m deep, the edge of the landslide arc is 3 m from the dike surface. The dike section with the incident has an 8 m wide dike surface hardened with a 6 m wide asphalt surface; the elevation of the dike surface is +7.5 m. The upstream side has no dike base, close to the dike foot is a deep pond and the downstream side is also a pond.

According to preliminary assessment, the cause of the incident was due to the upstream of the left dike in the above area having no foundation, the pond near the foot of the dike combined with a long period of dry weather, from January 10 to 18, 2024, in Phu Ly city, there was prolonged rain leading to landslides and slides.

Currently, the landslide site has been cordoned off with warning ropes. Specialized agencies are closely monitoring to promptly take measures when the landslide continues, potentially affecting the safety of the dike.
