This information was given by Mr. Huynh Tan Dat, Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, at a report to Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang on the plan to implement the growth target of the sector and export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2025, on the morning of July 29.
Durian exports will regain growth momentum
Mr. Dat said that durian exports have increased significantly recently, especially frozen durian exports, and from now until the end of the year will be the main export period.
"Currently, the Central Highlands durian harvest season has begun, so the department is closely coordinating with the General Administration of Customs of China to promote exports," said Mr. Dat.
According to Mr. Dat, at the end of June, the General Department of Customs of China sent a delegation to conduct field inspections at durian growing areas, packaging facilities and laboratories in our country.
"After the inspection, the delegation of the General Department of Customs of China highly appreciated the management and implementation of solutions that Vietnam has committed to. They also committed to have a report to ensure smooth durian export in the last months of the year," said Mr. Dat.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam also said that durian exports are showing good signs.
"We have now handled the problem of O-yellow and cadmium well. Therefore, from now until the end of the year, durian exports will regain growth momentum," said Mr. Nam.
According to Mr. Nam, the industry-wide growth target of 4% will be achieved if there are no major natural disasters or epidemics from now until the end of the year.
Regarding agricultural, forestry and fishery exports, Mr. Nam said that the export target of 65 billion USD is completely achievable, because in the first 6 months of the year, exports reached more than 33 billion USD and normally exports in the last 6 months of the year will increase higher.
However, Mr. Nam also noted that if the US imposes tariffs and there are disadvantages, it is necessary to calculate and redirect some goods to the European and Middle Eastern markets... because these markets still have a lot of room.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung said that coffee exports have so far reached more than 5 billion USD, while the export output is only about 1 million tons (total output 2 million tons/year), so the room for coffee exports is still very large and the export target of 7 billion USD will certainly be exceeded, many other items will also reach and exceed the set target.
Regarding rice exports, Mr. Trung said that from now until the end of the year, rice exports will recover because rice production is still guaranteed and businesses are continuing to sign more contracts. Similarly, durian exports will also recover in the last months of the year and achieve the set target of fruit and vegetable exports.

Continue to expand export markets
Concluding the meeting, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang commented that in the first 7 months of the year, the entire sector had done a good job in maintaining growth and export rates as set targets.
For the last 5 months of the year, Mr. Thang suggested that the whole industry focus highly on implementing tasks and plans to achieve the goals set by the ministry, especially the two most basic targets: growth of 4% or more and agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reaching at least 65 billion USD.
Mr. Thang suggested that units must focus on promoting the best production, avoiding epidemics to bring the highest output, thereby meeting domestic consumption and export needs.
Units continue to reform administrative procedures to the maximum extent, especially procedures related to import and export goods.
"The Ministry has decentralized and delegated a lot of power to localities, but the Ministry needs to supervise the organization and implementation. Do not let the incidents that the press recently mentioned in Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong (dragon fruit exported to the EU without any state agency signing the food safety certificate - PV) happen" - Mr. Thang said.
Mr. Thang also requested to continue to seek and expand markets and identify some key markets such as Europe, the Middle East, 17 countries participating in free trade agreements (FTAs)... to increase export value.
Certificate granted to enterprises exporting dragon fruit to Europe
Regarding the administrative procedure problems in exporting dragon fruit to Europe (EU), Mr. Dat said that the department has currently decentralized 22 administrative procedures to localities and 34 provinces and cities have announced administrative procedures, ensuring smooth operation.
"There is only one administrative procedure for granting food safety certificates for export to Europe. After receiving the decentralization of this administrative procedure, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety requested further clarification on the issuance of the new EU form. The Department has closely coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment to provide explanations and request the city to immediately implement this administrative procedure.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a decision requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to issue this certificate. On July 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety issued the certificate for the enterprise to complete the export dossier to the EU," said Mr. Dat.
