According to Resolution 60 of the 11th Conference of the 12th Central Executive Committee, it is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will merge with the two provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, after which the new city will take the common name of Ho Chi Minh City.

After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City will have two airports, Tan Son Nhat and Con Dao, so people can travel within Ho Chi Minh City by air.

The inner-city flight route after the merger will be Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao, connecting residents and tourists from the mainland to one of the southern island paradises.

This direct flight route is operated daily by two airlines , Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. The peak tourist season in Con Dao is during the summer months from March to July.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has Tan Son Nhat International Airport with three terminals, T1, T2, and T3. T1 and T3 are the two terminals serving domestic flights, and T2 is the terminal for international flights. Passengers can travel between terminals by bus, taxi, or ride-hailing vehicle.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau currently has Con Dao airport located in the north-east of Con Son island, 14 km from the center of Con Dao town. This airport is small in scale and was formerly called Co Ong.

Con Dao is 185 km from Vung Tau and 230 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The best time to travel to Con Dao is from March to September every year because the sea is calm, the wind is light and the weather is pleasant, suitable for outdoor activities.

When traveling to Con Dao, visitors should spend about 3 days and 2 nights or more to visit and experience the unique features of this place.

Con Dao has a wide variety of tourism activities from spiritual tourism (visiting, worshiping temples, Vo Thi Sau's tomb...) historical tourism (visiting museums, learning about the old Con Dao prisons) resort tourism at the top resorts in Vietnam, nature tourism (trekking Con Dao National Park, watching sea turtles lay eggs...).

Currently, Kien Giang is the only province in Vietnam with an intra-provincial flight route between Rach Gia City and Phu Quoc City.

After the merger, another city is also expected to have two airports, Da Nang, with Chu Lai airport (Quang Nam) and Da Nang airport. With the whole province having two airports after the merger, there will also be Gia Lai (Phu Cat, Pleiku) or Dak Lak (Buon Ma Thuot, Tuy Hoa)...
