Following the merger, five provinces/cities now have two civil airports each: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and An Giang.

According to the resolution on the reorganization of provincial-level administrative units in 2025 at the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly , the administrative map will be reorganized from 63 provinces and cities into 34 provincial-level administrative units (including 28 provinces and 6 cities).

According to updates from the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), many provinces and cities have up to two airports, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Gia Lai, An Giang , and Dak Lak.

Ho Chi Minh City has two airports, Tan Son Nhat and Con Dao, and is also the only locality with intra-provincial flights.

After merging with Quang Nam, Da Nang not only gained more international-standard destinations but also acquired two airports: Da Nang and Chu Lai.

Dak Lak has become a province stretching from forest to sea, possessing two airports: Buon Ma Thuot Airport and Tuy Hoa Airport.

Similarly, neighboring Gia Lai province also has great potential to attract tourists with its two airports, Pleiku and Phu Cat. Phu Cat airport, in particular, is a familiar destination for tourists visiting Quy Nhon, Ky Co, Eo Gió, and other tourist attractions.

From July 1st, the administrative names of some Vietnamese airports will change in accordance with the merger of provinces/cities.
