On March 27, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province issued an official dispatch directing the strengthening of propaganda, combating and preventing fraudulent acts and property appropriation in cyberspace.
Accordingly, in recent times, across the country and Dong Nai province, criminals have used cyberspace to commit fraud and property appropriation in a complex manner, causing great damage to people, causing public outrage, affecting security and order and people's lives. Some common fraud methods include: impersonating police, prosecutors, courts, etc., impersonating military officers and soldiers; recruiting collaborators on e-commerce platforms, online lending, etc.; taking over social network accounts to impersonate and borrow money.
The subjects established businesses, created applications (apps), websites (websites) to operate, manage activities, connected with functional businesses, used "junk" SIM cards, virtual accounts to do business, trade, call for capital, give gifts... very sophisticatedly with many departments and many stages.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee requested local agencies, departments and branches to disseminate and thoroughly educate all cadres, party members, civil servants, workers and people when participating in activities on the internet environment to raise vigilance, regularly learn about methods and tricks of criminals through mass media, local official information pages and police forces.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also requested the State Bank of Vietnam - Dong Nai Branch to direct banks and credit institutions to strictly manage account opening, especially online accounts, establish a quick response coordination mechanism with the police force, promptly exchange relevant information, block accounts in verification, quickly track and trace money flow, and prevent property damage to people.
