After the fake milk scandal, Hanoi requested to set up a team to inspect milk production facilities.

On May 6, the Hanoi People's Committee issued an official dispatch requesting increased coordination and strict handling of organizations and individuals involved in the production and trade of fake medicines, fake milk and fake functional foods.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the city's Department of Industry and Trade to chair an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect establishments producing, trading, and selling functional foods, milk, and nutritional products.

Member departments, Steering Committee 389 of districts, towns are urged to step up inspection and supervision of circulation and distribution activities at retail channels, agents, e-commerce platforms... to promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle the production and trade of counterfeit goods.

The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee requested to resolutely implement tasks and solutions to combat smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of fake and poor quality goods, especially fake medicines, fake milk and fake functional foods. At the same time, closely coordinate with the City Police and related units in investigating and handling cases of production and trade of fake goods.

In addition, the City Police are required to urgently investigate discovered cases and handle them according to their authority and legal regulations; organize special projects to investigate, detect and strictly handle violations in the production and trade of fake medicines, fake milk and fake functional foods in the area.

People's Committees of districts, towns and cities are required to organize a peak period of general review and inspection of compliance with laws on pharmaceuticals and food safety for establishments trading in medicines, milk and functional foods in the area according to decentralization and promptly detect and strictly handle violations according to regulations.

Recently, many cases related to fake drugs and food have been discovered nationwide, causing great concern among the public. In early April, the Ministry of Public Security discovered a fake milk ring involving 573 brands of powdered milk for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies and pregnant women... Many products have actual quality that is only less than 70% of the declared quality.

On April 16, in Thanh Hoa, authorities dismantled a large-scale counterfeit drug trafficking ring with a total volume of up to 10 tons, illegally profiting nearly 200 billion VND...

Most recently, in Phu Tho, authorities discovered a large warehouse of fake food managed by Famimoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. The seized items included more than 71,000 liters of cooking oil, 40 tons of MSG, 22 tons of seasoning powder, 9 tons of seasoning powder and nearly 84 tons of additives, along with more than 1.5 million plastic packaging and cans.
