On the afternoon of November 20, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

President Luong Cuong sincerely thanked the Czech Republic for its sentiments, valuable support and assistance to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in the current national construction and development.

At the same time, he affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen cooperation with the Czech Republic , one of the top priority partners and Vietnam's first strategic partner in Central Eastern Europe.

President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil affirmed that the Czech Republic always considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia and wishes to develop cooperative relations with Vietnam in all fields.

At the meeting, both sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in Vietnam- Czech relations in many fields, based on high political trust. Two-way trade turnover has grown impressively, reaching 2 billion USD in 2024 and 1.9 billion USD in the first 10 months of 2025, but is not commensurate with the potential and strengths of the two countries. The two sides still have much room to increase trade turnover, promote investment and cooperation in many other fields.

President Luong Cuong suggested that the legislative bodies of the two countries continue to coordinate to create a favorable legal corridor for bilateral cooperation, meeting the common interests of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

To promote Vietnam- Czech cooperation to continue to develop more substantially and effectively, the President suggested that the two sides increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels and through different channels to consolidate political trust; promote cooperation in many fields and promote people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, and expand new areas of cooperation where the two sides can complement and support each other.

The Czech Republic is expected to coordinate with the remaining European Union (EU) member countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and support the European Commission (EC) to remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports.

Agreeing with the proposals of President Luong Cuong, President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil said that the legislative bodies of the two countries will coordinate to implement high-level agreements and support the two governments to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.

President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to the local socio-economy and affirmed that the Czech National Assembly and authorities at all levels will continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the community.

Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two leaders affirmed that Vietnam and the Czech Republic will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, within the ASEAN-EU framework; at the same time, they affirmed their support for the stance of resolving disputes, including the East Sea issue, by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil informed President Luong Cuong that the Czech side will provide humanitarian aid worth VND3.5 billion to people affected by storms and floods in central Vietnam through the Vietnam Red Cross Society and hoped that Vietnam will soon overcome difficulties and remedy the damage caused by natural disasters.

On this occasion, through President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil, President Luong Cuong respectfully conveyed his regards and invitation to Czech President Petr Pavel to soon visit Vietnam to continue discussing directions and measures to promote bilateral relations in the coming time.
