The event took place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Speaking at the meeting, President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil opened with the saying: "far yet close", emphasizing that the Czech Republic is the "center of Europe" or "heart of Europe" and although the distance between the two countries is 8,800 km, Vietnam and the Czech Republic are actually very close to each other.

The President of the Senate of the Czech Parliament cited three main reasons for this special relationship: The 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Czechoslovakia (formerly), and Czechoslovakia was the first European country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam; in the Czech Republic, there are currently more than 300,000 Vietnamese people who speak and understand Czech; about 50,000 people of Vietnamese origin are living in the Czech Republic, forming an official ethnic minority community with full rights. These special factors create favorable conditions for establishing business cooperation relations between the Czech Republic and Vietnam.

President of the Senate Milos Vystrcil affirmed that the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of Vietnam support and advocate these cooperative relationships. However, "the main thing lies in the hands of each businessperson of the two countries". The President of the Senate of the Czech Republic also expressed his hope that this cooperative relationship will be beneficial to both sides.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Finance, said that in the first 9 months of 2025, the total two-way trade turnover between the two countries reached 1.6 billion USD.

Regarding investment cooperation, by the end of October 2025, the Czech Republic had 46 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of about 91.5 million USD, ranking 52nd out of 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Mr. Tuan cited the example of the joint venture between the Czech Skoda Auto Group and Thanh Cong Group to develop automobile production in Quang Ninh, considering this a symbol of cooperation.

However, according to Mr. Tuan, the results achieved are not really commensurate with the potential and data for cooperation between the two countries. He pointed out the areas where the Czech Republic has strengths and Vietnam has great demand for cooperation, including manufacturing technology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, high technology, green/clean energy, finance, information technology, telecommunications and tourism.

Vietnam is making efforts to make institutional, infrastructure and human resource breakthroughs to achieve the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045. Mr. Tuan affirmed that Vietnam is building an investment environment that is "truly fair, transparent, open, competitive and predictable".

At the Meeting with Czech and Vietnamese businesses, businesses accompanying the President of the Senate of the Czech National Assembly had an introduction and a B2B connection session (transactions, exchanges and cooperation between businesses) between businesses of the two countries.
