Mazda3's superior sales figures in April further solidified its leading position after the first four months of the year.
In April, the C-segment sedan market remained relatively stable, except for a decrease in sales. Specifically, 3,671 vehicles were delivered to customers, a decrease of approximately 17% compared to the previous month.
The Mazda3 still leads the rankings with 403 vehicles delivered to customers, a slight decrease of 4%. In second place is the Kia K3 with 216 vehicles, a sharp decrease of 38%. Following closely behind is the Hyundai Elantra with 173 vehicles, a decrease of 28%.
The other two imported models in the segment are the Toyota Altis , with 136 units sold, a decrease of 25%. The Honda Civic was the only model to see an increase in sales in April, with 131 units sold, up 22%. However, the Civic remains the worst-selling model in the segment.
In the first four months of 2023, Mazda3 sold over 1,600 units, creating a gap of more than 600 units compared to the K3, another product distributed by Thaco . The battle in this segment is mainly between the two Korean models, the K3 and the Elantra. The two Japanese models, Altis and Civic, are content with their current positions and have little chance of making a breakthrough.

In April, the Mazda3 received cash discounts of up to 20-70 million VND, the K3 50-80 million VND, the Elantra 50-60 million VND, the Altis 50 million VND, and the Civic 20-30 million VND. Although all models offered discounts, unpredictable macroeconomic fluctuations and rising lending interest rates have caused the Vietnamese car market to remain sluggish for an extended period. Furthermore, the C/D segment of sedans offers limited choices for customers.
The MG5 is also in this segment, but the manufacturer has not released sales figures.
