SHB continues to exempt fees for converting Magnetic cards to VCCS-standard Chip cards and will stop operating Magnetic technology ATM cards from April 1, 2025.

To ensure safe card transactions for customers according to international standards, from April 1, 2025, SHB will officially stop operating all magnetic stripe ATM cards. With the desire to bring customers optimal benefits, from now until March 31, 2025, SHB continues to support customers to convert magnetic stripe ATM cards to VCCS-standard chip technology cards at a cost of "0 VND".

To convert a Magnetic technology card to a Chip technology card completely free of charge, customers can choose one of the following two ways:

Method 1 : Convert at the transaction counter: Customers bring a valid Citizen ID to the nearest SHB transaction counter to exchange the card.

Method 2 : Convert via switchboard: Customers contact SHB's 24/7 switchboard via hotline *6688, discuss with the consultant the need to convert from Magnetic card to Chip card. Then, Customers provide personal information to authenticate and register to receive the card at SHB transaction counter as needed.

“ SHB’s free conversion from magnetic cards to chip cards not only helps customers save costs, but also improves the quality of banking services, making spending and shopping via cards easier and safer. In addition, SHB Solid chip cards are also equipped with contactless transaction technology, allowing customers to simply place, touch or wave the card on a card acceptance device (POS) with one-touch payment feature to make transactions quickly and conveniently,” the SHB representative emphasized.

In particular, during the card conversion process, in addition to domestic debit cards, customers can also choose to open and use international EMV chip debit cards such as SHB Visa/Mastercard Debit, SHB-FCB Mastercard Debit to make transactions, payments, withdrawals... anytime, anywhere globally; at the same time, enjoy monthly cashback incentives of up to 2% for the fields of cuisine, travel, hotels, spending at supermarkets, sports, fashion , advertising...

Please note, SHB does not require customers to provide information or card images, identity documents via SMS, via social networking platforms Zalo/Telegram/Facebook Messenger/Viber..., via email to cancel the card. SHB does not require customers to authenticate via links, calls to guide application installation or perform other card transactions. SHB recommends that customers be vigilant against current forms of fraud and scams.
