To ensure the security of card transactions for customers in accordance with international standards, SHB will officially cease operation of all magnetic stripe ATM cards from April 1, 2025. With the desire to provide customers with optimal benefits, from now until March 31, 2025, SHB will continue to support customers in converting their magnetic stripe ATM cards to VCCS-compliant chip cards at no cost.

To convert your magnetic stripe card to a chip card completely free of charge, customers can choose one of the following two methods:

Option 1 : Card exchange at the counter: Customers bring their valid Citizen Identity Card to the nearestSHB branch to exchange their card.

Method 2 : Conversion via Call Center: Customers contact SHB's 24/7 call center via hotline *6688, discuss their need to convert their magnetic stripe card to a chip card with a consultant. Afterward, customers provide personal information for verification and register to receive the card at an SHB branch as needed.

“ SHB’s free conversion from magnetic stripe cards to chip cards not only saves customers money but also improves the quality of banking services, making card purchases easier and safer. In addition, SHB Solid chip cards are equipped with contactless transaction technology, allowing customers to complete transactions quickly and conveniently by simply placing, touching, or waving the card near a point-of-sale (POS) terminal with one-touch payment capabilities,” the SHB representative emphasized.

Specifically, during the card conversion process, in addition to domestic debit cards, customers can also choose to open and use EMV chip international debit cards such as SHB Visa/Mastercard Debit, SHB-FCB Mastercard Debit to transact, pay, withdraw cash… anytime, anywhere globally; and enjoy monthly cashback offers of up to 2% for areas such as food, travel, hotels, supermarket spending, sports, fashion , advertising…

Please note that SHB does not request customers to provide card information or images, or images of identification documents via SMS, social media platforms such as Zalo/Telegram/Facebook Messenger/Viber, or email to cancel cards. SHB does not require customers to verify through links, calls instructing them to install applications, or perform other card transactions. SHB advises customers to be vigilant against current forms of impersonation and fraud.
