SHB's Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director, Do Quang Vinh, represented the bank in receiving the award.

At the Vietnam M&A Forum 2025 – the most prestigious annual event in the field of mergers and acquisitions organized by the Finance and Investment Newspaper – Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was honored as the “Company with the most outstanding M&A transaction in 2024-2025”. The award, selected by the Forum's expert panel, recognizes SHB's remarkable achievements in implementing its M&A strategy.

In early November 2024, SHB announced a resolution approving the sale/transfer of its remaining stake in SHBFinance Limited Liability Company. According to the agreement with Krungsri Bank (Thailand) – a member of the MUFG Group (Japan) – SHB will transfer the remaining 50% of its charter capital in phase 2. This transaction is considered one of the biggest highlights in the Vietnamese financial and banking market during the 2024-2025 period.

A representative from SHB stated: “The award is a recognition of SHB’s persistent efforts in restructuring, optimizing its investment portfolio, and strengthening its financial capacity. The SHBFinance transaction provides crucial resources for the bank to continue building a foundation for sustainable growth, while also demonstrating a strategic partnership vision with leading international institutions such as Krungsri and MUFG.”

SHB's Vice Chairman of the Board and Deputy General Director, Do Quang Vinh, was directly involved in the transaction. Since 2021, when he served as Chairman of SHBFinance, he presided over negotiations and signed the agreement to transfer 100% of the charter capital to Krungsri for an estimated value of approximately US$156 million, equivalent to VND 3,500 billion, 3.5 times the company's charter capital.

In May 2023, SHB completed the transfer of 50% of its capital in phase 1, and SHBFinance was transformed into a Limited Liability Finance Company. Currently, SHB and Krungsri are finalizing phase 2 after the partner proposed to acquire the remaining capital ahead of schedule.

Also in 2023, Mr. Do Quang Vinh made a significant mark in the business world with the capital transfer deal at Saigon - Hanoi Insurance Corporation (BSH). As Chairman of the Board of Directors of BSH, he presided over the entire negotiation process with DB Insurance (South Korea) - one of the largest non-life insurance companies in Asia. In March 2024, DB Insurance officially became a strategic shareholder, holding 75% of BSH's capital. In addition, Mr. Vinh played a crucial role in connecting Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI) to sign the agreement to transfer 75% of its capital to DB Insurance.

Against the backdrop of Vietnam emerging as an attractive destination for M&A capital thanks to its stable growth foundation, improved institutions, and groundbreaking policies, SHB's transactions are considered by experts to be "wave-setting" deals, contributing to shaping new trends for the market.

As of September 30, 2025, SHB's total assets reached VND 852,695 billion, an increase of 14.1% compared to the end of 2024 and exceeding the 2025 plan; the bank aims to reach VND 1 trillion by 2026. SHB is currently among the top 5 largest private commercial banks in Vietnam in terms of charter capital, with a market capitalization exceeding USD 3 billion.

Recently, SHB's General Shareholders' Meeting approved a plan to increase its charter capital by VND 7,500 billion in 2025 through the issuance of over 459 million shares to existing shareholders, 200 million shares through private placement, and over 90 million ESOP shares. After the issuance, the charter capital is expected to reach over VND 53,400 billion, placing SHB among the top 4 largest private banks.

SHB is implementing a strong transformation strategy, aiming to become a leading bank in efficiency, the most preferred digital bank, the best retail bank, and a strategic partner providing financing for private and state-owned enterprises. By 2035, SHB aims to become a leading modern retail bank, a green bank, and a digital bank in the region.
