- At this time, in many fields throughout the province, people are urgently sowing and tending to their winter crops for 2025, determined to compensate for the agricultural production losses caused by typhoon No. 11.

In early December 2025, we visited the fields in Co Luong Hamlet, Ky Lua Ward. Here, the atmosphere of winter crop production was bustling. Ms. Hoang Thi Dip from Co Luong Hamlet shared: "With the mindset of 'not letting the land rest,' after two rice harvests, my family is now quickly starting to prepare the land, getting all the seeds and supplies ready to plant 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of potatoes. We expect to complete the planting in about 10 days to ensure it's done on time."

Along with Mrs. Dịp's family, many other households in Kỳ Lừa ward, especially in areas formerly belonging to Tân Liên and Gia Cát communes, have been urgently planting and caring for winter crops. To date, residents in the ward have planted nearly 106 hectares of winter crops, exceeding the plan by 25%. This includes over 42 hectares of various vegetables and nearly 64 hectares of potatoes. Currently, people are continuing to expand the planted area and are also focusing on improving crop yield and quality.

Not only in Ky Lua ward, but also in many other communes and wards throughout the province, people are quickly starting to plant and care for winter crops. Mr. Luong Van Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Binh commune, said: In 2025, Yen Binh commune suffered heavy losses due to floods, with thousands of hectares of rice and other crops completely or partially destroyed. Faced with such heavy losses, immediately after the floods subsided, taking advantage of favorable weather, all levels of government and the people quickly began to repair the damage. This included focusing on repairing some pumping stations and machinery, as well as preparing sufficient seeds and materials for winter crop production. According to preliminary statistics, to date, people in the commune have planted about 100 hectares of various winter crops such as baby cucumbers, potatoes, and vegetables. Currently, people are focusing on caring for these winter crops to improve yield and quality, in order to partially compensate for the losses caused by the floods.

According to the plan, in the 2025 winter crop season, the entire province will plant approximately 4,600 hectares of various crops such as vegetables, potatoes, chili peppers, tobacco, corn, etc. To implement the plan, relevant levels and sectors in the province are focusing on directing the 2025 winter crop production. Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: From the end of October 2025, the department issued a document on strengthening the direction of the 2025 winter crop production. This document requested the People's Committees of communes and wards, and relevant agencies to proactively implement flexible production plans suitable to the specific conditions in each region, linked to the product consumption market. Along with that, the department directed specialized agencies to strengthen the inspection and management of seeds and agricultural supplies; and proactively regulate water for production. Transferring technological advancements, replicating effective production models..., ensuring productivity, quality, economic efficiency, and food safety and hygiene.

At the same time, due to the severe impact of floods causing a shortage of vegetables on the market, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related agencies are providing support and guidance to expand the area for growing winter vegetables. This will ensure that the demand for vegetables increases during the year-end period is met, while also contributing to increasing the value of products and boosting farmers' income.

Thanks to the close guidance and attention from relevant levels, sectors, and units, and the proactive efforts of the people, the implementation of the 2025 winter crop production has achieved positive results. To date, the total area planted with winter crops in the province is approximately 1,400 hectares, reaching over 30% of the plan and increasing by 24% compared to the same period in 2024. This includes the area of ​​some major crops such as: various vegetables (approximately 970 hectares), potatoes (approximately 200 hectares), chili peppers (approximately 80 hectares), tobacco (approximately 55 hectares), and corn (approximately 60 hectares)...

According to the plan, the area for planting the 2025 winter crop is still very large. To ensure production progress, in addition to the proactive efforts of the people, relevant levels, sectors, and units need to continue to pay attention and provide support to achieve the best possible results for the 2025 winter crop. This will contribute to increasing the value of agricultural production and directly improve the income of people in the area.
