In implementing this movement, many units have concretized the criteria of love, respect, and safety through actions appropriate to their actual conditions. For example, Huu Lung Ethnic Boarding School for Secondary and High School students, with over 300 boarding students across two levels, focuses on innovating methods and building a close-knit environment so that each student feels cared for and supported. Hoang Thi Cam Tu, a student in class 11A, expressed her attachment to the school: "Studying and living here, we always feel the affection of our teachers and friends. Every day at school is joyful and reassuring because there are always people there to help."
According to our research, to build a happy school, classroom spaces and school grounds are carefully maintained, and many experiential activities are organized to make students feel connected to the school as if it were their second home. At the same time, tasks are assigned according to teachers' strengths, helping them to be enthusiastic about innovation and improve the quality of their lessons.
In disadvantaged areas, the value of "happiness" is even more profound. At Nhat Hoa Secondary School, a remote school with the majority of students from ethnic minority groups, the school always strives to ensure that no student is left behind. Principal Hoang Tho Thuan said: "The school connects building a happy school environment with organizing skill-building activities and experiences suitable to the local conditions, such as sports competitions, folk games, and robot programming, to help students become more confident in their studies and lives. Thanks to this, in the past school year, the school's students won high prizes in robot programming competitions and medals at the Phu Dong Sports Festival; the teaching staff also had many outstanding examples in professional competitions. These results show that when studying in a friendly environment, each student has the opportunity to shine, even in a place with many shortcomings."
According to our research, the "Happy School" movement is spreading widely throughout the entire education sector. With over 600 educational institutions and more than 210,000 students and preschoolers, the Department of Education and Training has directed 100% of units to develop plans and integrate the content of "happiness" and "safety" into their annual tasks, linking them to emulation movements such as "Innovation and Creativity in Management, Teaching, and Learning," and "Teachers Helping Students Progress"... A key highlight is the synchronized implementation with professional tasks according to the 2018 General Education Program, placing students at the center to both nurture positive emotions and create motivation for comprehensive development. When the learning environment becomes vibrant and modern, each student is encouraged to demonstrate their abilities, responsibility, and joy in attending school every day.
In reality, this approach is not only effective in public schools but is also being creatively implemented in the private sector. For example, Anh Viet School (Dong Kinh Ward), a kindergarten and primary school, consistently adheres to the philosophy of putting students at the center and happiness as the ultimate goal. Mr. Hoang Van Viet, the school's executive director, stated: "We maintain a holistic education approach, ensuring that each subject and activity contributes to helping students become more confident and mature every day. Adhering to this goal, the school staff focuses on innovating teaching methods, creating a friendly and enriching learning environment; from well-equipped classrooms to sports, arts, and life skills activities, everything is geared towards the joy and developmental needs of the students. As a result, 100% of students meet the competency and character requirements of the curriculum. More importantly, they live in an environment where they are respected, listened to, and are always eager to come to school."
The results show that the "Happy School" movement has made a significant contribution to building a safe and healthy learning environment throughout the entire education sector. Educational institutions regularly promote behavioral skills, emotional management, cooperation, and sharing skills among students; and effectively implement measures to prevent and combat school violence, ensuring no serious incidents occurred during the past school year, contributing to the physical and mental safety of students. In particular, 100% of educational institutions effectively implemented the code of conduct, ensuring absolute physical and mental safety for children attending school. These figures affirm the efforts of the entire sector, demonstrating that each day at school is not just a new lesson, but also a journey of nurturing positive emotions and spreading love within the school community.
This demonstrates that the "Happy School" movement is on the right track, creating a safe and friendly learning environment that helps students confidently grow and mature every day. This will be the foundation for the entire education sector to continue innovating, spreading love, and building schools that truly nurture character and sow the seeds of the future.
