In the context of e-cigarettes, stimulants, and various social ills infiltrating the school environment in increasingly sophisticated forms, raising awareness among students through education is considered a crucial task at educational institutions.
Innovate propaganda and enhance the role of the Youth Union and Youth Association.
Beyond simply disseminating knowledge, many schools today focus on building a safe and healthy learning environment, while also promoting the role of youth organizations in supporting and guiding students towards a positive lifestyle.
According to Ho Thanh Bao, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union and President of the Student Association of Cao Thang Technical College, given the current situation where e-cigarettes, drugs, and social vices are increasingly infiltrating young people, the Youth Union and Student Association need to further strengthen their role in educating, guiding awareness, and building a healthy learning environment for students.
"The Youth Union and Student Association are the organizations closest to students, so they shouldn't just focus on disseminating knowledge, but also on creating a shift in the awareness and actions of young people," Bảo shared.
Current communication efforts need to be reformed to be more accessible, modern, and aligned with students' information access trends.
Instead of rigid forms of propaganda, it is possible to promote media products such as short videos , infographics, social media, dialogue forums, interactive platforms, or hands-on experiential activities to increase the effectiveness of dissemination.
In addition, content on preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco, drugs, and social vices should be integrated into youth union and student association activities to help students access information in a more natural and accessible way.
Models such as "smoke-free classrooms," "students saying no to drugs," and "safe and civilized school environments" are considered directions that need to be further expanded in schools.
"One of the key factors is promoting the exemplary role of Youth Union and Student Association officials and outstanding students to spread a positive and responsible lifestyle in the community," Bao said.

Building a healthy and safe school environment.
At Cao Thang Technical College, the school, together with the Youth Union and Student Association, implements various practical activities to raise awareness about preventing and combating tobacco, drugs, and social evils.
Over the past period, the school's Youth Union and Student Association have intensified communication through their Fanpage, bulletin boards, and posters to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco, e-cigarettes, drugs, and social vices.
This content is also integrated into the orientation week at the beginning of the academic year, class meetings, and branch/association meetings to help students raise their awareness right from the start of the school year.
Besides communication activities, the school also organizes many programs in response to World No Tobacco Day, legal awareness forums, health knowledge contests, and cultural and sports activities to create a positive living environment for students.
In addition, the school regularly collaborates with relevant authorities to organize thematic awareness campaigns on drug prevention and control, while also equipping students with the skills to identify and avoid illegal activities and potential risks in modern life.
According to Bao, the goal of these activities is not only to reduce tobacco use or exposure to social vices among students, but also to contribute to building an image of Cao Thang University students as dynamic, responsible, and with a healthy lifestyle.
In a message to students, Mr. Ho Thanh Bao emphasized: "Don't let a moment of curiosity cost you your entire future."
He believes that many young people still have a complacent attitude, thinking that e-cigarettes or some stimulants are harmless.
However, in reality, these products can seriously affect the physical and mental health, academic performance, and future of each individual.
"Youth is the most beautiful period for learning, training, and self-development. Therefore, cherish your health, maintain your character, and choose a positive living environment," Bảo shared.
Every student needs to proactively say no to tobacco, drugs, and social vices; and at the same time, spread a civilized and responsible lifestyle to their friends around them.
"A truly strong student is not someone who dares to try harmful things, but someone who has the courage to refuse them," the Deputy Secretary emphasized.
