On the afternoon of August 28, the final round of the third Vietnam Student Stock Investment Competition, with the theme: “Vietnamese Students with Financial Literacy” - Investment Challenge 2025 (IC 2025), was held at Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC).
After three challenging rounds, IC 2025 has determined the top ranked teams.
The YIELD HUNTERS team won the championship this year. This is a joint team of three universities in Ho Chi Minh City, with members: Nguyen Manh Thang (Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking); Nguyen Vu Lan Anh (Ton Duc Thang University); Vu Trong Minh Hieu (University of Finance - Marketing).
Second prize of IC 2025 belongs to Team TAT GORL, with members: Nguyen Thanh Tai, Truong Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thi, all from Ton Duc Thang University.
Third prize went to Team WBB with members: Pham Duc Huy (National Economics University - Hanoi); Nguyen Thi Mai Anh (Banking Academy - Hanoi); Vu Ngoc Linh (Foreign Trade University - Hanoi).
Investment Challenge is a stock market competition that gathers excellent students with a passion for finance from universities and colleges nationwide. The competition is co-organized by the Center for Applied Economic Research and Training (CAER); Faculty of Finance and Banking; Young Securities Investment Club of Ton Duc Thang University. The competition is professionally sponsored by the Vietnam Securities Business Association.
According to the organizers, IC 2025 attracted more than 2,400 students from 110 universities and colleges nationwide. In 2023, the competition had 91 participating schools, in 2022 it was 83 schools.
Dr. Nghiem Quy Hao, Director of CAER, Head of the IC 2025 Organizing Committee, said that the competition is not only an academic playground, but also a practical experience, combining theory with practice, helping students practice their analytical skills, risk management, and investment decision making in a real market context.
“The special thing is that the teams are provided with real capital by the organizing committee, open real accounts, buy and sell, and trade securities listed on the Vietnamese stock market. This is a pioneering model in the community of students majoring in finance and banking across the country,” said Mr. Hao.
After 2 months of real investment experience, IC 2025 selected the 10 teams with the best results.
To enter the final round, 10 teams with the highest actual return on the stock exchange (according to the securities company's statement) will be selected. Along with that, the scores of the teams' investment strategy essay reports will be graded by jury members from securities companies and educational institutions.
From a school-level activity, Investment Challenge has quickly become a large-scale, highly practical academic competition for students nationwide.
“The competition is not only aimed at finding the winning teams. More importantly, we want to contribute to building an academic community, a generation of young, professional, responsible and standard investors, contributing to the sustainable development of the Vietnamese stock market,” emphasized the Head of the IC 2025 Organizing Committee.
