Scientific research students: Journey of discovery and conquest of knowledge

In recent years, the student scientific research movement has been spreading strongly in many universities, opening up valuable opportunities for young people to try their creativity, explore knowledge and contribute to the community with their own creativity.

Right from the beginning of their university life, many students have had a desire to explore and do something different. Instead of being confined to books and lectures, they choose to step out of their “comfort zone” and boldly embark on research, despite many challenges and confusions. Approaching research methods, developing plans, conducting field surveys, analyzing data, etc. are new skills that students must learn and practice throughout the process of implementing their projects.

For Vuong Thi Linh Duyen, a final year student of the Faculty of Primary Education (Phu Yen University), it all started with a seemingly simple question: How can students acquire knowledge more proactively? That question led Duyen to develop the topic "Building situational exercises in teaching Natural and Social Sciences subjects for grade 3" to create a source of useful materials that are easy to apply in teaching practice, contributing to improving the quality of education . Duyen shared: "In the process of implementing the topic, I searched and exploited information from many different sources such as: monographs, textbooks, research papers, articles on the internet, as well as the guidance of teachers. In addition, to give the research topic more basis from reality, I made a survey to evaluate the level of use of exercises in the teaching process of teachers who are directly teaching at some primary schools".

In fact, in recent years, scientific research topics of students have become increasingly diverse, closely linked to practice and social needs. Recently, many topics of the Banking Academy - Phu Yen Branch have brought about feasible applications in life, including projects that won the Banking Academy's Student Scientific Research Award such as: "Research on factors affecting the acceptance of using cloud accounting software in enterprises"; "Factors affecting the acceptance of using Buy Now Pay Later service by students of universities in the South Central region"; "Effectiveness of applying electronic invoices in small and medium enterprises"...

Student scientific research not only improves personal knowledge but also brings practical contributions to the community and society. Research topics on clean technology and environmental protection have brought new solutions, supporting sustainable socio-economic development; carrying the enthusiasm and responsibility of young people towards the community.

In order to create favorable conditions for students to develop their research ability, many universities are actively building an open academic environment, encouraging students to participate in academic clubs, scientific forums, and research competitions at the faculty, school, and national levels. In addition, many sponsors from businesses and organizations, and research funds also create favorable conditions in terms of funding and modern equipment, helping students to carry out topics with depth and high applicability.

Recently, at Phu Yen University, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Provincial Student Association to organize the 2025 Student Scientific Research Forum. Here, students listened to experts with experience in scientific research introduce and guide them on methods for conducting scientific research projects; how to apply artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific research; instructions on how to write Prompt (commands) to use ChatGPT effectively in learning and research; how to collect research data - some experiences and solutions from the practice of scientific research in preschool education... Thereby helping students approach and apply scientific research methods, contributing to promoting the scientific research movement of students.

Dr. Tran Lang, Principal of Phu Yen University, commented: Today's students do not only study for exams but also are dedicated to exploring and creating. Each research topic, whether successful or not, is a step forward in the journey of inspiring innovation, creativity and affirming the role of young intellectuals in the development of the country. In addition, participating in scientific research also creates opportunities for students to access new technologies, practice teamwork skills, presentation skills and time management skills. These are important factors that help them develop comprehensively and improve their future career opportunities.

Dr. Tran Thanh Long, Director of the Banking Academy - Phu Yen Branch, said that in addition to financial support, the school also guides students to focus on researching topics that are close to local realities. Students are encouraged to survey and interview businesses, commercial banks, etc. to have a more realistic view of research issues. This has helped many topics become highly practical, easy to apply to work and start a business after graduation.
