Siri on Apple's iPhone now supports Vietnamese, calls a car and transfers money |
Apple has officially released iOS 18.4 after more than a month of testing, allowing users to download it on iPhone models from the 2nd generation iPhone SE, iPhone 11 and above. Along with that, Vietnamese Siri also appeared on iPadOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4 from today, expanding language support capabilities across the Apple ecosystem.
Users can check and install the update by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update . iOS 18.4 brings many new improvements, including better support for AI features on new devices.
For the iPhone 16 series in particular, the update is over 7GB in size, requiring users to prepare enough free space before updating.
The iOS 18.4 update not only maintains the ability to interact in Vietnamese like the beta version, but also expands Siri support to a number of popular applications in Vietnam, including Be and Momo. This is an important step forward, helping iPhone users to use the virtual assistant to perform daily operations more quickly and conveniently.
In the Be app test, Vietnamese Siri allows users to order a ride by voice. However, the destination must be one of the addresses saved in the Be contact list. Similarly, with Momo, Siri can support users to make money transfers by reading the transfer command to a contact and specifying a specific amount. This simplifies operations, especially when users are not comfortable using the touch screen.
However, Siri still requires users to use precise, grammatically correct commands instead of being flexible like normal spoken language. This can make getting used to voice commands take more time. In the future, Apple may continue to expand the list of supported applications as well as improve natural voice recognition capabilities to enhance the user experience.
After years of waiting, Siri finally supports Vietnamese, opening up a more convenient experience for Apple users in Vietnam. Not only does it work on iPhone, Vietnamese Siri is also compatible with HomeKit smart home devices and supports hands-free control while driving. However, Apple Intelligence - Apple's new AI feature set - does not currently support Vietnamese. If you change the Siri language to Vietnamese in settings, users will not be able to use these AI-related features. Apple said it will soon add Vietnamese along with many other languages such as Chinese, English (India and Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish this year.
When setting up Vietnamese Siri, users can choose between four different voices. To help the virtual assistant accurately recognize the voice and pronunciation, users need to read five sample sentences during the setup process. Siri can still be activated with the familiar command "Hey, Siri" or simply say "Siri" if hands-free mode is enabled. This makes it easy for users to control the device by voice, especially useful when hands are full or unable to touch the screen.
With Vietnamese Siri, users can perform many tasks such as making calls, sending messages, checking the weather, scheduling or setting reminders. Supporting Vietnamese makes Siri more accessible to users who are not familiar with English. Although it still needs time to be completed, the launch of Vietnamese Siri marks a big step forward in personalizing the Apple experience in Vietnam.
