According to Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this document is being submitted to the Director of the Department for consideration and promulgation.
Specifically, students' morning classes will not start before 7am and no later than 8am. Morning classes will end no earlier than 10:30am, while afternoon classes will end no earlier than 4:30pm.
Mr. Ho Tan Minh said that currently, many primary, secondary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City still have unreasonable timetables. Some schools let students finish school at 3:00 PM or 3:30 PM, making it difficult for parents to pick up and drop off their children.
Regarding the organization of two-session teaching/day, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that schools need to implement flexibly. Calculating school entry and exit times must ensure stability, while also creating convenience for parents in picking up and dropping off students.
Mr. Quoc also noted that some schools currently arrange 5 periods in the morning and only 2 periods in the afternoon, then let students go home early, which is not appropriate. This needs to be adjusted to ensure effective teaching and student activities.
According to new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , from the 2025-2026 school year, general schools across the country will implement two sessions per day, with a maximum of 7 periods per day.
However, the fact that some schools set school closing times too early (3:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.) has made many parents upset, complaining about the inconvenience in arranging pick-up and drop-off times for their children.
