On the evening of June 30, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu gave an official response to the incident of an exam supervisor signing in the wrong place, affecting the rights of candidates in an exam room at Nguyen Du High School (District 10) in the recent 2024 high school graduation exam.
The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the department has worked with the leaders of the examination site of Nguyen Du High School (District 10) after receiving feedback from parents.
Specifically, in exam room 2500, during the Literature exam (morning of June 27), the exam supervisor discovered that a candidate had mistakenly signed in the marking box on the exam paper. By the time the mistake was discovered, the candidates had been taking the exam for about 10 minutes.
The two exam invigilators reported the incident to the exam room supervisor outside, who then reported the incident to the head of the exam site.
The test site leader's solution is to ask the invigilator of this test room to continue letting the candidates take the test on the wrongly signed test paper so as not to affect the candidates' test taking.
However, in reality, some candidates in the above examination room were given new exam papers and re-took the exam, so some candidates took the exam on the new exam papers, while others continued to take the exam on the old exam papers.
The head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training admitted that the incident affected the test-taking of candidates in room 2500, Nguyen Du High School (District 10).
Therefore, the Department of Education and Training will have a form of handling responsibility for the two exam invigilators, the head and deputy head of this exam site.
In addition, to ensure maximum benefits for candidates in examination room 2500 for the Literature exam (the exam where the invigilator signed in the wrong place), Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu said that after the exam papers of candidates in this exam room are graded according to normal procedures, the Department will have a grading team review all Literature exams of this exam room, ensuring that no student is disadvantaged in terms of rights.
Thus, parents and candidates can rest assured that the incident of the exam supervisor signing the wrong documents will not affect the candidates' rights.
