(CTO) - A working delegation from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, led by Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department, recently conducted a survey of historical and cultural relics in the area.

The delegation surveyed and learned about the reality at the Special National Monument of the Victory of Chuong Thien (The victory over 75 enemy battalions by the Military and People of Zone 9), at 2 locations in Vi Tan ward and Vinh Vien commune; the National Monument of the Vi Thanh - Hoa Luu Secret Zone, Vi Thanh ward; the city-level Monument of the 1974 Vinh Cheo Artillery Battle, Vinh Thuan Dong commune and the National Monument of Uncle Ho Temple, Luong Tam commune.

At the destinations, the delegation learned about the activities and personnel at the relics, the current status of relic conservation and restoration as well as solutions and good practices in promoting the value of relics and serving tourists ...

The delegation visited the Exhibition House of the City-level Relic of the 1974 Bay Cheo Artillery Battle, Vinh Thuan Dong Commune.

This survey was mainly conducted at relics in the old Hau Giang province. According to statistics, Hau Giang province before the merger had 17 ranked relics, including 1 special national relic, 8 national relics and 8 provincial relics. Among them, many are famous relics, known to the people and tourists such as the Chuong Thien Victory, Tam Vu Victory, Uncle Ho Temple, Can Tho Provincial Party Committee Base... The locality has made many efforts in preserving and promoting the value of relics, linking with tourism and doing a good job of educating historical and cultural traditions at the relics, especially for the younger generation.

The delegation noted the proposals and recommendations at each relic. Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said: The Department will continue to conduct surveys of relics in Soc Trang province and Can Tho City (before the merger) in the coming time to assess the current situation and propose solutions to preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics that have been ranked in Can Tho City after the merger.
