Exciting Clipper Race Round the World Yacht Race in Ha Long

The Clipper Race began in October 1996 in Plymouth, UK. To date, the race has hosted more than 50 cities around the world .

In the 2023-2024 season, the race is divided into 8 stages with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings. Participating in the season are 11 racing boats to Ha Long Bay, including the Quang Ninh team racing boat with the name: "HaLong Bay, Viet Nam". Race No. 7, part of the 5th stage called "Asia- Pacific Challenge", has a starting point at Coral Sea Port (Queensland, Australia) and a destination in Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province, Vietnam).

The 11 participating teams embarked on a 25-day voyage covering 4,515 nautical miles. By the end of February 19, all 11 participating teams had completed race 7, stage 5 (2 days ahead of schedule).

The racing team “HaLong Bay, Viet Nam” finished 5th and is currently ranked 6th in the overall rankings.

Immediately after the starting ceremony, 11 racing boats performed the "Pulling the Rope Ceremony" and organized a racing boat parade.

This is also the final activity of the Clipper Race teams in Ha Long, Quang Ninh before officially entering race number 8, to Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China.

At the restart ceremony, the Clipper Race Organizing Committee expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome from Quang Ninh province and the friendliness of local people.

Joining the racing team and becoming one of the destinations of the Clipper Race Round the World Yacht Race 2023-2024 season has affirmed Quang Ninh's capacity in terms of experience, facilities, and expertise in organizing international-scale tourism and sports events.

Thereby, it aims to introduce and promote the image of Quang Ninh province's tourism as well as introduce opportunities, potentials, and investment attraction projects in the province to international friends and potential investors. Quang Ninh identifies the Race as one of the province's key tourism promotion, advertising, and investment attraction activities in 2024 and the following years.
