With the aim of creating more playgrounds for all those interested in Pickleball, a sport that has not been in Vietnam for long but has created strong attraction from all walks of life, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper organized the 1st Pickleball Tournament of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper - 2025 on June 14 at The 8386 Pickleball Club (HCMC).
The tournament was held on the occasion of many historical events, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper (July 28, 1975 - July 28, 2025) and moving towards the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
Pickleball is a sport that combines flexibility, speed and strategy, suitable for all ages.
This year's 1st Pickleball Tournament of the Lao Dong Newspaper - 2025 welcomes 100 pairs of athletes to compete in 6 events, including men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles of two age groups: From 18 to 39 years old and from 40 years old and above.
The tournament has the participation of many amateur tennis players in the city and neighboring provinces.
Also competing in the tournament are journalists working at news agencies and newspapers, along with many tennis players who are artists, actors, singers, and musicians working in the art field.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that the Pickleball Tournament of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper is truly a meaningful activity, especially at a time when the whole country is having many practical activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and many other major national holidays.
Organizing sports and cultural events with the meaning of behind-the-scenes activities reflects the determination of the Lao Dong Newspaper in carrying out its economic and journalistic tasks.
After a day of exciting competition, the 1st Pickleball Tournament of Lao Dong Newspaper - 2025 has come to an end, marking the first successful season in terms of expertise, organization and sportsmanship.
The event not only brought quality competitions, but also contributed to spreading the Pickleball movement to the masses, opening a new direction for Pickleball in socializing sports, strongly impacting the awareness of taking care of health training of the community.
Mr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, said that the award is a practical activity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, demonstrating the dynamism of journalists in organizing cultural and social events, continuing to affirm the role of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper as a bridge between information, readers and the community, accompanying the country's development in all fields.
