Exciting Sports Festival to welcome the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee

The opening ceremony of the Sports Festival to welcome the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress took place on the morning of October 12.

This is not only a healthy and useful playground but also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City residents to actively respond to the Movement for the entire population to exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho , contributing to building a healthy society and improving the quality of life.

On the morning of October 12, at the Binh Duong Sports Training and Competition Center (Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Opening Ceremony of the Sports Festival to welcome the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party took place.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Sports Festival, Mr. Cao Van Chong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Sports is not only an activity to improve health and physical fitness, but also a healthy spiritual food, contributing to building a rich cultural life for the community.

Moreover, sports are also the link that connects people, strengthens solidarity, trains discipline, team spirit, strong will, and noble lifestyle.

“In the exciting atmosphere welcoming the City Party Congress, today's event is a practical activity, like the best wishes for a new period with new vitality, new spirit, new vision, new determination and new success”, Mr. Cao Van Chong shared.

Mr. Cao Van Chong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, delivered the opening speech of the Sports Festival.

It is known that in recent years, along with the socio -economic development, the sports movement in Ho Chi Minh City (including the old Binh Duong area) has grown stronger and stronger, achieving many encouraging results.

Sports for everyone spread widely in the community with many exciting activities organized such as Running Competitions; Launching Ceremony for the whole population to practice Swimming, prevent and combat child drowning; Olympic Running Day for the health of the whole people,...

In addition, the city's high-performance sports are always in the top position of the country, achieving many noble achievements in national and international arenas. Many athletes have brought glory to the locality and the country, most recently the historic world championship of chess player Lai Ly Huynh at the 2025 World Chinese Chess Championship held in China.

The sports festival to welcome the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030 with a series of exciting activities, attracted a large number of athletes to participate, especially since most of these activities were organized from socialized resources.

The opening was the Community Sports program (including jogging and tug-of-war) with more than 1,000 athletes who are civil servants, public employees, and workers in the area participating.

Immediately following was the Yoga and Gymnastics Festival, with the participation of more than 450 athletes from 33 units in the city. Each performance was carefully and evenly staged, harmoniously combining movements and music.

The thorough investment of the teams and performances not only brings relaxation and lightness but also spreads the message of a healthy lifestyle and daily physical exercise.

In parallel, there is the Pickleball Dinknutrition Open HCMC, a tournament that brings together more than 200 athletes from units, clubs, and businesses in the region.

Although it is a new sport in Vietnam, Pickleball has quickly received attention thanks to its flexibility and suitability for many ages. The system of competition fields, referees, and technical staff are all carefully prepared, creating an attractive tournament with strong spread.

With many exciting and diverse sports activities from the dynamism of the locality and the cooperation of federations, associations, business communities,... Ho Chi Minh City sports are spreading many positive values ​​to the community, gradually affirming the special position of sports in a megacity after the merger, contributing significantly to the development of Vietnamese sports in the new era.
