Nearly 11,000 houses in Hanoi and Bac Ninh are still flooded.

Floods on rivers continue to recede but remain high, causing 10,961 houses in Hanoi and Bac Ninh to be flooded. Authorities at all levels, sectors and localities are urgently working to remedy the situation and stabilize people's lives.

The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that floods on rivers continued to recede. At 5:00 p.m. on October 12, the water level of Cau River at Luong Phuc hydrological station was 7.6m (0.40m below level III flood warning); Ca Lo River at Manh Tan hydrological station was 7.86m (0.14m below level III flood warning); Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong hydrological station was 6.41m (0.11m above level III flood warning).

Although the flood has subsided, many low-lying residential areas along the river are still deeply flooded. As of 5 p.m. on October 12, Hanoi and Bac Ninh province still have 10,961 flooded houses, of which 8,800 are in Bac Ninh and 2,161 are in Hanoi.

On October 12, agencies, units and localities continued to focus on supporting people to overcome the consequences of floods. Hanoi, along with Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces, urgently handled dike incidents and damaged traffic works; it is expected that the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway will be reopened on the night of October 12. The electricity sector has restored power supply to more than 502 thousand customers, while about 48,169 customers have not been re-supplied due to severe impacts in Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Lang Son and Cao Bang . Communications in Hanoi, especially in Trung Gia and Da Phuc areas, have been restored and are operating normally.

In particular, on October 12, the Prime Minister decided to provide 400 billion VND in emergency aid to 4 provinces that suffered heavy damage to overcome the consequences of floods, including: Thai Nguyen 250 billion VND, Cao Bang 50 billion VND, Lang Son 50 billion VND, Bac Ninh 50 billion VND. The Central Relief Committee has also mobilized more than 1,011 billion VND to support overcoming the consequences of storms No. 10 and 11. Localities are continuing to review and summarize the damage, urgently supporting people to clean up mud, restore production, ensure the safety of dykes and stabilize life after floods.
